I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a good job. I really liked the H/h and secondary characters. I enjoyed the storyline as it kept me engaged.

It takes a talented writer to make a character like Drill loveable, but Yadley nailed it!

So I think out of the smartypants romance books, this is my least favorite. I couldn't connect with the characters and story. The main characters are so opposite, I just couldn't see them being together. It could be a case of "it's me not you."

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I'm usually not such a big fan of Green Valley stories in which the hero is part of or is involved with the Wraith but Drill and Thuy got to me! I really liked how they both connected on their past and of course I love the library and seeing glimpses of favourites like Naomi and Sabrina!

“He puffed up, feeling his chest warm. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had thanked him for something. For that matter, it had been a long time since he’d done something to help someone. He felt an odd sensation deep through him, like a shot of whiskey on s cold night. It was nothing like the numbness and disquiet he’d been feeling with the club”

Prose Before Bros, written by Cathy Yardley is part of the Fall 2019 Smartypants Romance collection, and is book 3 in the Green Valley Library series. It is the story of Thuy and Drill, set in Penny Reid’s Green Valley, Tennessee. Thuy is best friends with Maddy, who was born and bred in Green Valley and moved to the west coast to go to college. Drill is Maddy’s brother, and a member of the Iron Wraiths Motorcycle Club, a club which over recent times has been having a bad turn of events, and is slowly disintegrating. Maddy and Drill’s father passes away, and Maddy brings Thuy with her for the funeral and return to Green Valley. It is here that the girls and Drill (or Teddy as he was previously known) learn that the siblings have been left the farm, with a condition if one wants to keep it and continue working on it, they cannot sell.
The story continues with ups and downs of farm life, Maddy’s pregnancy, which brings its own rumours to the gossip mongers of little old Green Valley, Thuy starting work at Green Valley Library and bringing change and modern ideas with her.
I loved Ms Yardley’s Drill, bringing him to life, delving into his character and showing his compassion and kindness that for most part is hidden away as part of his hard Iron Wraith demeanour. Slowly, layer by layer comes undone and we see Drill for the person he really is. This is true for Thuy as well, as we get to know her as the strong, fighter she has grown up to be.
Prose Before Bros is a romance, it is a love story and I enjoyed the build up of Thuy and Drill’s relationship, there was attraction and desire, both knowing deep down - how can this be? Ms Yardley has written this story so smoothly, with characters readers will want to get to know and a storyline that begs you to keep reading to find out more! A 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review, and I look forward to reading more of Cathy Yardley’s books as I enjoyed Prose Before Bros a lot!

I love this series, and Thuy is amazing. This story went deeper into the MC than the other series and really highlighted how broken it is and how the whole Darrell Winston/Razor situation completely destabilized it and how it affected other people within the MC. Great story with a hard-won HEA for Thuy and Drill for sure.

Guys I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this book! Thuy and Drill were fire together, their chemistry was off the charts. Loved getting an inside look into the Iron Wraiths and adored that the MC was a woman of color... Not gonna lie The SmartyPants Romance universe is in severe need of some color, even small rural towns have diversity.

I think one of the things that stood out about the third installment of the Green Valley Library series was much like the 1st novel there was realistic relationship progression. I hate instant romance more than anything. It was a forbidden/friends sibling tale. Drill is a quintessential bad boy but I love that Cathy doesn't try to make him do a complete 180 for a girl, he comes everything on his own and on his own timetable. 4.5⭐ tied with Code of Conduct as the best of the @smartypantsromance ARCs I've read so far!

I wasn’t really sure about this book when I started. It did eventually grow on me, and I love the “hope for the future” vibes at the end.

I think Book 2 was a hard one to follow, and I just didn’t love this as much as Book 2!

I enjoyed this book far more than I thought I would, given it’s not my usual genre. There were some great geeky book references, a John Waters quote, some truly delightful biker names (Razor St. Claire? Yes!), a best friend with loyalty tighter than a biker to his gang, and a laugh out loud moment (one of many) when a tough Vietnamese girl from Oakland tells a Karen off in the Piggly Wiggly. Good stuff to take your mind off the current events and COVID lockdown—we could all use some laugh out loud, purely enjoyable reading right now!
