The Hundred Years' War on Palestine provides a historical and personal analysis of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The author makes the argument that from the late Ottoman period, through British rule, and into the modern era, Zionism functioned as a national and colonial-settler movement. The imperial powers of Britain and the USA supported it. The author goes into the key turning points, including the Balfour Declaration, the Nakba of 1947-1948, the 1967 war, the 1982 invasion of Lebanon, the First and Second Intifadas, and evolving American involvement. I like how the author critiques both the Zionist movement and the Palestinian leaders. He does not shy away from pointing out missteps. The author clearly lays out how the modern history of Palestine can only be understood as a colonial war waged against the indigenous population to dispossess them of their homeland.
I came away understanding how the propaganda has not changed over the years and how ingrained Zionist beliefs are embedded in our government. I can understand why so many of the black civil rights and black power movements felt an affinity with how the Palestinians are treated. The oppressed understand the oppressed. This book reminded me how Americans are isolated in our news, and when we get news regarding other countries, it is filtered through a biased and uninformed lens. Our history classes also do a disservice because much of this book was new information to me.
I would highly recommend this book. This book is both heartbreaking and informative, and it is a necessary read to understand what is happening now.

I highly recommend reading this book. I had to wait months to get it from Libby. The book summarised 100 years of this horrible colonial settler violent tragedy for Palestinian people with plenty of references, he lived in Palestine and he was also involved in some negotiations so he offers a closer look to what has been happening there. He also criticized some of the Palestinian leaders mistakes, but without ignoring the despicable and horrible actions of Israel and it's supporters/partner/lover USA. I see some comments about "two sides" there are no two sides here or two versions.
very comprehensive historical account of the war on palestinians starting in 1917, and from an arab perspective. would recommend. would love to see an updated version or new book accounting for events up to present day.
