Apparently Martha Wells loves her formula and after the third time it got so tired I just skimmed. 

Murderbot reluctantly mother gooses some silly but vulnerable humans, Murderbot begrudgingly protects them, fight scene fight scene fight scene, Murderbot abandons the new group of humans they have to admire and have defection for, runs away.

Not to have spoilers but the characterization for MB was weird too.

Loved the first two books but this one was so dry and predictable I’m going to give up on the series

That was one [] of a ride. I love the parallel between the relationship between murderbot and Dr. Mensah and the relationship between Miki and Abene as well as how that contributes to murderbot's decision at the end. The book kept me hooked the whole way through and though I was a little confused at some parts I think it's due to how I was opting not to reread parts for clarification so I could read faster lol. Teared up at the ending. This was such a meaningful part of the murderbot diaries and has cemented the fact that my favourite part of this series is the conncections between characters.

 I love Murderbot so much. It's so done with all of this bullshit and just wants to consume media in peace, but it keeps having to go save idiot humans from their own bad decisions. Murderbot's strong narrative voice made for a fascinating mood in this book. By all rights, the setting should be space horror - an abandoned space station where something is not quite dead and trying to kill you. But Murderbot's trademark snark and irreverence makes it almost funny. And it worked - it's definitely unique, and as much as I like space horror, I also enjoy Murderbot viewing a space horror setting as nothing more than highly inconvenient. This series so far is ostensibly about Murderbot investigating a conspiracy, but that just seems to be a reason for it to travel around and do other stuff along the way. It's less about answers than about Murderbot's growth. And it's fascinating to see how it has grown even over three books as uncomfortable-pretending-to-be-human Murderbot now has to pretend to be a SecUnit again. This one didn't need to be longer - it was a solid story that didn't feel rushed - but I wish it was longer because I enjoy these books so much.

Another great installment in the Murderbot series! 

This is the third book in the Murderbot series and as with the others, I enjoyed this one a lot. 

In this book, Murderbot is continuing its investigation into an event that happened and the Corporation's involvement in it and as usual, meets a new cast of characters along the way. 

Once again, the writing was fun. We're back to the fun and witty snark of Murderbot, which was less in the previous book. The plot was interesting and we learned some new things about the event that happened. We got a bit of expansion on the world as well, which is always lovely. But once again, the characters are where these books shine. Murderbot is always a delight and his interactions with Miki, a "pet bot" were interesting. I love seeing Murderbot interact with other AI characters. It's always fun and Murderbot is just babey in all the ways. The new human crew in this one was a hit or a miss for me. I didn't love most of them as much as I have in past books, but I don't think we were supposed to. 

I'm also having many emotions about the end of this book. 

Looking forward to reading the next installme

In Rogue Protocol, Murderbot builds on his idea to help Dr. Mensa expose GrayCris and along the way is again roped into helping a motley crew of humans who introduce him yet another possibility for what human-bot interactions can be. The books are always quite short but even so have a strong narrative and emotional impact. Just like Murderbot, I found myself in a kind of stunned silence at the end 😢
