I really like Kamala Harris. I am proud of her achievements. She is such an amazing role model for young brown and black girls & women. I absolutely loved listening to Kamala talk about her personal life... her mother, sister, education, her husband, etc. I wish there had been more of this throughout the book. Nonetheless, I enjoyed listening to Kamala narrate her life, her political viewpoint and what she hopes to achieve for our future generations. Here’s to the next Vice President of the USA!!

I don't read much (/any?) political memoir, but I was given this for Christmas, and I'll admit I'm interested in knowing more about a woman who will be pretty influential in the world over the coming years. It was fairly dry, but the chapters being thematic rather than strictly chronological made it more interesting. I felt like I learned a lot more about big events like the foreclosure crisis, the pathway to marriage equality, and about the geography and socio-economic situation in California in general, which was nice. I have never visited, but have some great friends there, so will, hopefully, someday.

I love a good memoir... but usually find political memoirs to be a drag. Kamala surprised me with how much I enjoyed her writing and story telling! I appreciated how she broke out her chapters— they were easy to follow and I learned a ton! I couldn’t put the book down at times when she would tell stories about the inner negotiations with Big Banks and government officials. I don’t align with her on everything politically (mainly fiscally) but like she explains in the book— it doesn’t matter! We are one people with a shared American Dream! I am hyped to see a woman VP & I know she has America’s best interest at heart. YOU GO GIRL!

Definitely recommend!

Not bad but kind of a introduction of policies book instead of a juicy memoir

This genre often leaves a lot to be desired. I loved hear her talk about her life and the work she’s done but it lacks in vulnerability because it’s a companion piece for running for President not a tell all. It’s good for what it is and she’s a wonderful human. Hearing about her work as a prosecutor and her plans for the country was all good. But overall it’s nothing ground breaking or exciting.

This book is really well structured showing us how Kamala's upbringing created a sense of social justice. Great insight into the current Vice-President of the United States

Not a fan of Kamala's criminal justice record, but in terms of quality of storytelling, this is one of the more intriguing political biographies I've read. Her history of being tough on the banks after the 2008 financial crisis (as mentioned extensively in the book) gives me hope that the Biden administration will tackle income inequality.
