What beautiful writing! I felt like I highlighted half the book because the prose was so enchanting. It is a difficult subject to read about, and I almost wish it had been longer so we could have bonded with the characters more. Also,
a lot of the questions are left unanswered by the end - why did Jenny kill May, where is June? I've read some interesting theories that help clear things up for me, and I also liked the author's interview about how the lack of answers are to keep the book more realistic. While it's frustrating that we have no idea what happened to June, the truth of the matter is that a lot of missing children are never heard from again, so I appreciate the commitment to keeping it realistic.

This is a beautifully written book that takes you in and covers you with its profound sadness and yearning for something that cannot be described. I cannot recommend it enough, it is both captivating thanks to the plot and wonderful in terms of its literary value.
