I really wanted to like this book, but it just wasn't for me.
I skimmed through most of the spicy scenes bc they were cringe. I just couldn't get into the story line. The entire time I really thought Larke and Amie were gonna be related in some sort, I was waiting for this, but then nothing happened.
And the entire "influencer" drama, was so cringe. I just couldn't.

Another fabulous trip to Calamity, Montana! I loved getting to know Wilder Abbott and Iris Monroe. Wilder is a high school science teacher living in Calamity dedicated to keeping to himself. As a widower he is determined to not create and ties and just live his life. Iris is a social media influencer who lives her life in 2 month increments, finding a new location every 2 months and Calamity is her next stop.
Iris’s brother is friends with Wilder from college so when Iris needs a place to stay he offers Wilder’s place. Wilder and Iris were certainly opposites but the opposites that fit perfectly.
I loved seeing their relationship develop from merely coexisting to becoming each other’s everything. Wilder gave Iris a home for the first time and Iris gave Wilder a reason to come out of his self isolation.

This was sweet, but didn’t have much plot -it was them being horny and resisting each other and then them being horny and banging each other- and the dead-wife trope was extremely heavy

this wasn’t bad, just not my favorite from the series or the author. i felt like wilder didn’t really have any likable qualities, and iris was a pretty bland character despite how much she tried standing out with her wardrobe and whatnot. i also just didn’t care for their relationship. it felt very repetitive of every other relationship devney perry has written

Wilder is the grumpiest of grumps. Some may say a brood. I love Iris. She's sunshine, but even sunshine has its dark days and needs support. I love them together. I love how he supports her through everything.

Wilder Abbot has the look of the swooniest of heroes, too bad his attitude doesn’t match. Grief does that to a man, it makes him hard and unapproachable. But that doesn’t deter Iris, a strong willed, tattooed free spirit who has come to stay with him for two months.
This story is one of self reflection and finding a connection they you didn’t think you deserved. This is the part of Devney’s Calamity series, they are all standalones but there are some moments where we get to visit with our friends from the other books in the series, so if you haven’t read them all then definitely don’t miss out on them!! Devney is a Queen and I never miss out on a chance to read her words, and you shouldn’t either!
