Iris is a free spirit who travels around the world spending no more than two months in a place while building her social media brand. She decides her next location is going to be Calamity Montana. Her brother arranges for her to stay with Wilder, his introverted, widower best friend.
Iris is fighting to prove herself to her family and against their expectations. She has worked hard to become the woman she is now. She is smart and confident, but fights all attachments. But something about Wilder has changed her perspective. She has a connection to him that she cannot fight.
Wilder prefers the solitude to people. He is struggling to deal with grief and guilt from the death of his late wife. He struggles to let anyone in, but as he learns to trust Iris we see a whole new side of Wilder emerge. As he learns to forgive himself, he allows Iris to crawl further and further under his skin.
I love these two together. Iris helps Wilder overcome his guilt and grief, while he helps her find her place. Their chemistry is palpable. As their trust grows, you see a distinct shift from a purely physical connection to an emotional one.
I HATE how her family treats her. The way her brother reacts when he finds out about their relationship is disgusting. No wonder she has such a visceral reaction to being called a w****.
Tropes: small town, age gap, best friends sister, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, roommates to lovers

Iris lives her life two months at a time. Jumping from one city to the next. Soaking each one up, enjoying all that the city has to offer and then moves on to her next city. She loves her wanderer lifestyle. She has built quite the following and has made a good living as an influencer doing what she does. Her next stop is Calamity, Montana. After her brother raving about it for years, she has decided to make this Calamity home for two months. Her brother reached out to his best friend, Wilder Abbott to see if Iris could stay at his home for her two months in Calamity. Wilder is a grumpy old man, who doesn't like people or a change to his routine. He likes the quiet solitude of his home after teaching high school science. He doesn't want to say yes, to have his quiet disturbed, but he can't say no to his friend so he agrees to allow Iris to stay with him. He is in for the shock of a lifetime when he realizes that she isn't the quiet mousy girl he remembers from years ago.
I loved these two. I loved that Iris pushed Wilder but recognized when he needed space. I loved how Wilder wholly embraced Iris for who she is, didn't want to change her and seemed to be the only person who respected and supported her life choices. These two were such polar opposites but were really the perfect fit for each other.
