This might be my favorite book in this series yet. I loved broody Wilder and spontaneous Iris. I liked that their age gap became a little bit of a joke.
Unlike the other books in this series, there weren’t many secondary characters. This book focused solely on Wilder and Iris, which made sense since Wilder was the town recluse. It also made their fast paced romance more realistic because they were spending so much time together.
I loved the way Iris slowly broke down Wilder’s walls. She never pushed him further than he was ready to go, but did give him the push he needed to move on. I loved the way they both confided in each other. Iris was struggling just as much as Wilder and he never made her feel less than or judged.
I loved the way everything wrapped up. Iris finally spoke her mind and both Iris and Wilder ended up in a better place emotionally and mentally. I loved that neither of them gave up what they loved and were able to find a compromise that worked for both of them.

the calamity series is 100% for the vibes. i think this is my FAC out of all of them thus far!! i LOVED iris and loved wilder <333 their place in calamity is legitimately my DREAM! i was living vicariously. iris was everything and more, i love and wilder as a chemistry teacher? hot.
i do wish we got to see wilder open up sooner to iris and see them bond/connect more through their interests, talk about how they felt about each other, etc. but they were insatiable lmao. in my mind they did communicate these things more fully to one another off page <3
SO LOVED the no 3rd act break-up 😁 always a dub in my book
but oh my gosh the sadie drama was killing me LMAO! as soon as i got the hunch about her crush i was just as BLEGHED out as wilder 😭 delusion and jealousy are a DISEASE and sadie got what she deserved. ryan was a total tool. ultimately i'm happy with how this whole situation ended, but damn! i laughed and could. not. get over how CRAZY all of the events played out lmaoooo. how things transpired was totally unexpected, BUT queen devney always delivers a unique spin/element(s) to situations like so! keeps things fresh and memorable (even if i don't want them to happen). i wanted to jump in this world so fast to defend my bae iris - she didn't deserve any of this!

"If all I managed to accomplish for the rest of my life was keeping her, I’d consider it a success."
The Brood has stolen the number one spot for my favorite in this series. I'm so happy we got Wilder's story!! He was such an alpha that when his sweet moments peeked out, I was a goner. 🫠 was Iris was such a free-spirited, sweet person. The sunshine to Wilder's grumpy. I never wanted their story to end, but by the time I finished, I had a smile on my face and felt all gooey on the inside.
