The Calamity Montana series is truly Devney Perry's best work and I adore these books. This one was no exception! I have waited so long for Wilder Abbott's book and it did not disappoint. I really wanted the backstory of his wife's death and why he hated Larke so much. Well, we got answers! I lvoed his dynamic with Iris and how life changing and up ending she was. She was the hot to his cold and everything he didn't think he needed and everything he could ever dream. They were definitely opposites; their personalities, their ages, their jobs and styles but they fit so well together. I loved that Iris brought out another side to Wilder and helped him with his grief and to open up. I loved that Wilder helped Iris with really finding herself and standing up for her. They made a great couple! I wish we would have seen more of the others in the town of Calamity but I loved this nonetheless. I hope Devney Perry continues this series somehow because it truly is great.

I've said it once - I'll say it again, this series is underrated!!! this is one of my favs in calamity (and devney in general). devney's broody men HIT DIFF OK?! it's the law at this point. they way they fall & soften for their girl just gets me all the way together and wilder is NO EXCEPTION. iris is such a boss & such a fun character!! brother's best friend BUT MAKE IT DEVNEY?! again- i was already sold. low drama, hot spice, all around YES.

Listen. I’m a sucker for the broody, grumpy ones, and Wilder Abbott is no exception! After seeing him be a jerk to Larke in The Brawl, I needed to know more. I adore Iris and who she is–she was determined to not let Wilder’s attitude bring her down. The banter and the tension between these two is *chef’s kiss* and I ate 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 up 👏🏻 These two are so good together. Iris was determined to bring Wilder out of his shell (and she succeeded) and Wilder gives Iris space to find herself and what she wants next. I really enjoyed their dynamic. This book has some of my most favorite topes with the forced proximity and the grumpy/ sunshine, and it was another Devney book that I absolutely binged because I couldn’t stop! I have been loving the entire Calamity series, but this might be one of my favorites of the series!

The Brood is the sixth book in the Calamity Series by Deveny Perry, and it does not disappoint!

Wilder Abbott is a high school science teacher who lost his wife, Amie, about nine years ago. His best friend Danny Monroe called in a favor that was promised back in their college days--it was for his younger sister Iris to stay with him for two months!

Iris Monroe is the younger sister of Danny Monroe by ten years, so growing up, they didn't have much in common, but still, they are family. Iris's family disapproves of how Iris chooses to live, travel, and see the world as a social influencer with a considerable following in two-month increments.

Here are some things you can expect from this story:

Gumpy-Sunshine
Age Gap
Force Proximity
Brothers Best Friend
Laugh-out-Loud antics

Devney Perry is the queen of small-town romances, and I adore reading her work!

Iris shifted her sunglasses, her gaze locked on my mouth. “What?”“Your smile. I love to see it.” That was the way I felt about hers.

It felt good to revisit this series through Wilder & Iris. Though their lives were totally different, they were opposite but somewhat similar. Wilder preferred his solitude and the last thing he needed was his best friends sister moving in with him and disrupting his peace. Or so he thought, because Iris fit so perfectly in his life that he realised how lonely he truly was, that he needed her to stay because he slowly got used to her presence in his life and realised that he couldn't go back to living the way he did, without her. In the beginning, Wilder was quite and reserved but I loved his personality as Iris made his playful side come out. Iris was truly amazing, free spirited, independent and knew exactly what she wanted. I honestly loved her morale! Overall, as usual, the writing was apt, the small town charm was perfect and the last half really made me swoon! It was a solid 3.75 star read for me.

This book had me squealing and kicking my feet with how giddy it made me. It felt so good being back in Calamity, Montana and to finally hear Wilder Abbott’s story.

Wilder is a complete grump (in the best way), definitely lives up to the title of this book. He’s been living a solitary life after moving to Calamity to escape his past. So when his best friend calls up asking if his little sister can crash with him for a couple of months, he reluctantly agrees. Enter Iris, she is sunshine, she is funny, confident and not afraid to go after what she wants. She’s a social media influencer, so she’s very out there, which makes her the complete opposite to Wilder. But yet in other ways they were so similar! They matched each other so well. And were both undeniably attracted to each other from the off!

There was so much tension between the two of them that was accompanied by the perfect amount of spice! Then the banter between them left me smiling from ear to ear. There were also moments that had my heart aching. The way these two fall in love with each other is beautiful. I could read about it over and over again!

Overall I just fell in love with these two characters and their love story. I really didn’t want this story to end, it’s left me feeling all giddy!

i loved seeing the growth from broody Wilder and Iris. i wish i could travel like iris, but i’m too much of a homebody for that 😂 her never ending questions and he eventually just went with it. i love how he accepted her as she was. he loved her tattoos and the way she dressed. this was such an enjoyable read.
