This is definitely a book that you can read many times, and pick up new clues with each read. The first time I read this, I missed a lot of things! Definitely have to pay attention, though, because things can get a little confusing.

What a twisty, competent ride! Really a delightful manipulation of time loops and body hopping, just deliciously tricksy.

Extreme duhumanizing, hateful language against fat people, while describing one character and from the perspective from this character.

Very enjoyable, and keeps you on your toes the entire story. I will admit that it was easy to get a tad bit confused as to what is going on from chapter to chapter, and perhaps reading either all in one session or taking notes on important plot points would help here. Unfortunately I do think that the ending fizzles out a bit, and does not have the same intrigue as the rest of the book.

dnf again (tried 2nd time)
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is an ambitious and highly inventive mystery thriller that challenges the reader with its complex structure. The premise of waking up in a different guest’s body across eight repeated days to solve Evelyn's murder is intriguing and original. However, my experience was marked by confusion and difficulty in following the plot, even after three attempts including once with a physical copy to focus better. The multiple perspectives and intertwining timelines created a dense narrative that felt overwhelming rather than immersive. While critics praise its cleverness and unpredictable twists, this complexity made it hard for me to stay engaged or finish the book. It’s a novel that might reward patient readers who enjoy intricate puzzles but stands as a tough read for those seeking a straightforward mystery.

I seriously thought this book would be a DNF. It took until Aiden moved to his second host to finally get into it. But, when he got to host #4, the story finally got me addicted and intrigued. Everything slowly gets unraveled and when you think the murder is solved, it isn’t. Enjoyed how all the hosts were unique, creative, and realistic. I would not read it again since it took me forever to read. But, knowing what I know now would make sense reading it a second time around.

Also, I kept a post it note to track all the hosts while reading the paperback. Worth it!
