I really wanted to enjoy this book and maybe if I had read the physical book, I may have. I found the audiobook tedious while I tried to remember characters and the roles they played throughout the book. Near the last couple chapters, I was just ready for it to end so I could have the resolution without continuing to try to figure out who was doing what and why. Then the end was a bit anticlimactic, and I was saddened that I finally had the lackluster resolution I was so desperate to have.
likeeee a 3.5 star?? I really liked the mystery and trying to figure everything out but the ending/“big reveal” could have been done better with more relationship building and context prior and didn’t have the effect I think it intended.

1.25 ⭐️ honestly I just did not get it at all until like the page 300 which was way too late, hence why I never really got into it. If I read it again I’m sure I would get more out of it but it just wasn’t interesting enough for me to do that
I liked the idea of the book but didn’t realize there would be a ”magical” aspect to the book (which is my fault hahah how did I not realize that) but in my opinion it just didn’t work. There were way too many characters and even the murder mystery was kinda meh and after the confusion of it all the mystery finally being solved did not feel exciting anymore. Honestly I wish I would have DNFd

Switched between Audiobook and physical copy... loved it, then was confused, then loved it again, then was confused again... the last 150 pages were mostly "what, how???" Moments and at times I wondered if I missed a chapter. Didn't help that it felt as if half the characters names started with a D. Very interesting concept, cool execution slightly unsatisfying ending due to confusion. Might make more sense during a reread.
