Another reread! And wow, we finally touched on Elias and what he might be. Or at least we're getting there, the book does leave us at a cliffhanger
In this book we're continuing to follow Chise and we have more of a spotlight on a few characters we met in previous books: Renfred and Alice, as well as "Cartaphilus", the kid Chise saw when she purified the glop in book 1. I'm going to take a guess and say Cartaphilus is going to be our main antagonist for the series since he's been cropping up in all the errands Elias and Chise have been doing. We've also met a lot of other characters and one of my favorites is Ruth
This book also touches on something I was hoping would come up soon, Chise's dependance on Elias. I know Elias tells her to feel at home and that she can do as she wishes (and that he'll help her out), but Chise is still so hesitant, always doing as she's told, afraid that he's going to get mad and run her out. And I think a lot of people are concerned with her complacency. I am too but not because she's doing what Elias tells her to but her motivations. With the abuse she suffered I'm sure it's going to be a long time before she finally breaks out of her shell but I'm hoping that this world Elias has introduced her to will get her there :)
Lots of funny and touching moments in this volume as well, like always!
