Amazing. I read this book a second time just recently and I couldn't remember anything from the first time except that there were werewolves. But it was amazing. I loved it. I love Sam and Grace together.

The entire trilogy of The Wolves of Mercy Falls is fantastic, and the first book is no excepion. The narratives are convincing and the plot line is well developed and fantastic. I believed that the characters were real, almost as if this were an autobiography. Overall, a very underrated book in my opinion - it deserves to be up there, near to the (dare I say) overrated likes of John Green and J.K. Rowling.

At first, I thought the novel was a bit dull. The events were going through so slowly and there wasn't much suspense and drama. It just didn't really attract me so much.
But towards the end, the faith and hope that sparked as their love really put me through the understanding and anticipated me for the next novel Linger.
This novel was a good read, although its not enough to be classified as one of my favourites.
It is enjoyable, though and very easy to read.

Sam is still a sweetheart but this read through I realized that Grace is a really terrible friend. Actually liked this book more than I thought I would on reread.

I pretty much stand by my original review. I did get through the audiobook much quicker this time so the reading experience was much quicker which made it more enjoyable. Despite its cliche nature I actually do like Sam and Grace’s story - they make such a wonderful couple. It’s both interesting and bizarre that they fell in love while he was wolf and she was human then it just transferred super easy when he was finally human and they met.
It’s definitely cliche and kind of cringe at times but it stills an Interesting and engaging story!
I hate Grace’s parents so much, they’re so self involved and don’t pay attention to her whatsoever. Her mother literally flirts with Sam who is an 18yo child AND her daughters boyfriend? So gross and also be a better mother for once in your life.
Her mother also infuriates me when she talks about Grace not being very creative. She literally sounds so disappointed that Grace is good at math and wants a good job ‘ugh she likes and the way things work’ like wow screw Grace for daring to want a good education and job and not following in the footsteps of her useless shitty parents.
Her mother is literally more excited to paint a random guy then she has ever been when talking to her daughter.
Jake eating his sisters dog when in wolf form is literal comedy gold.

So I’m not sure how I feel about this book, but I think I probably would have enjoyed it more had I read it instead of listening to it.
I liked the story, and I love Sam and Grace as a couple but it just went really slow - with nothing much really happening until the last couple hours of the book. Had I read it, it probably would have only taken me a day but listening always takes me much longer - which also made the story feel slow.
Grace's friends are really annoying, and while I initially didn't like Isabelle she really pulled through and proved herself to be a pretty good friend.
Also, I hate Shelby and was really sad to find out she didn't actually die.
I think the most interesting part of this book was the way werewolves worked, it moves away from many classic and typical werewolf tropes, which was pretty cool. Though the whole weather thing sure makes for a lot of inconveniences.
I also must admit, had I read this story at age 10-13 I would have adored it. However, being older made the intense love between Sam and Grace unrealistic and borderline cringy. Being older I have different expectations in books and so I think that impacted my feelings towards this story, but I think any middle schooler would love this book.
I also differently intend to get around to the next two books in the future as I am intrigued to see how it all ends.

Though I ADORE this book, the narrator for Sam really made it difficult for me to enjoy it. I thought Grace's narrator was pretty spot on, but I couldn't get over how doofy Sam's made him sound. Sam is not some geeky, nerball guy... he's just not! Like I said, I still love this book, but the audiobook just wasn't as good as it could be. Hopefully they switch up Sam's narrator for Linger. I'm giving this rating based on how much I enjoyed the audiobook version, not the book itself (which is, of course, a 5 star read).
