A unique spin on well-known Greek mythology!

This book started very quickly and dove straight into the action! Within the first fifth of the book, the main storyline had begun and we were introduced to most of the main characters. I immediately got Scythe vibes from the book, although with the young adult cheese-factors of books like Crave! I actually really enjoyed this cheesiness as it felt nostalgic and wasn't done in a cringey way. It felt very YA and I appreciated this being done with slightly older characters (Savannah turns 18 in the book).

Character introductions were done well and I really liked most of the characters. Søren was a really well thought out character who grew as the book progressed. He had a multi-dimensional personality and surprised me at times! I also really liked Hades' portrayal! Although he seems cocky and arrogant, he's actually very human and I though this was a clever presentation, rather than the expected Hades character! I didn't, however, connect very well with Savannah. She was very moody (which I can understand given her circumstance) but didn't really lighten up as much as I wanted her to! I did enjoy her sarcasm and that she was very outspoken, however she annoyed me at times. I liked seeing her mature towards to end and I think that in the next book she may have grown a little!

The storyline was really engaging and a lot happened in the book. It felt like a real roller coaster journey from start to end. The story was told from multiple points of view which contributed to how fast paced and dynamic the book felt! It combined urban and high fantasy elements which was really cool and something that I feel is underappreciated in the fantasy genre! I rated the book 4 stars because I really enjoyed it! I'd have liked a little romance (although this is personal taste and not a criticism of the book in any way!)

*note: this book was gifted to me by the author*

I gave this 4.5 stars actually and the only reason I did was because I think that there weren't enough Savannah chapters. I think that most of the story was told from Søren's POV which isn't necessarily bad but I wanted more of the main character.
Overall, this was an amazing book!! I had found myself in a fantasy slumb for a while and this was the best book to help me break it. I loved all of the friendships Stacey created, all the character dynamics and especially Søren and Savannah's friendship. I hate Horkos with a passion and my poor baby Savannah didn't deserve half of what she went though.
I liked what the author did with Hades and Phoebe's relationship and how well they handled it because this was from the child's perspective and her emotions were the cause of most of her decesions which made her more like an actual person (which I really liked).
This was a fun twist to greek mythology and honestly so creative and new that every page had me on the edge of my seat. Can't wait to read book two soon!!

Firstly this is a very good book. It established great characters and a divine world within our own human world. The book is full of twists and what I call mini quests between the characters but it all builds on the overall plot. I almost felt like I was reading short stories and then at the end it all made sense. Truly, not what I expected but it was refreshing to read something so different and not all that confusing.

I definitely got Percy Jackson vibes but with a unique twist. At time I wanted to read more from Savannahs perspective but then I also wanted to only read about Thanatos as well. There is just something so appealing about a dark, mysterious character.

Thanks to the author and The book network for my paperback copy of this book in return for my own honest review.

Daughter of fire is an engaging and action packed book, Savannah Green lives with her strict mother but she is about to turn 18 and has to live with the absence of her father, she is involved in accident on the night of her 18th birthday but she unfortunately doesn’t make it and ends up in the afterlife, with death reapers and Greek Gods.

I really enjoyed the Greek god side of this book, the story is well written and can tell the author has done a great job with the plot. Cannot wait to read book 2.
