The author is capable of creating a somewhat functional RPG system and that’s pretty much it. The plot twists remind me of very cheap crime stories (you know, the “butler is the murderer” kind), the characters lack depth and purpose, everything is way too easy for the main protagonist, the amount of pointless fluff is tiring. A very underwhelming read overall with a sprinkle of misogyny, of course.

The translation is rough, but the story is surprisingly epic

I have to be brutally honest, this book could use another couple of passes through translation and editing, but despite these flaws I became engrossed with the journey of this Mary-sue main character. The progression and plot twists are enough to keep me glued, page after page.

It's just such a fun series. Listened to the audio version, and the narrator Jonathan Yen is wonderful.

This is probably the best LitRPG series around in scope, plot (twists) and general characters.

EDIT: The budding romance story of Stacey and Mahan is handled pretty well.
And even more important is the how the upper echelons handle a 'small-fry' like our main character. His growing up and ability to handle injustices and the long game is the best I've read. Most fantasy authors have no idea how climbing the corporate ladder or global business works, and while this isn't exactly that, it still have a better understanding on how leaders with a good strategic understanding work, how important a good analysis department is, and why you have people who think well on their feet as the frontrunners in negotiation.

The ending is one of the best way of setting up a low-level as the integral and most important part of a continent wide quest. Brilliant.

Mnóstwa akcji, magii, specjalności, trudnych wyzwań i wyborów.
