This was addictive and so so good; I could not put it down. Really interesting commentary on mother-daughter dynamics (I loved the generational flash backs and a narrative about believing women + mothers specifically. You know what’s going to happen the whole time and yet somehow the ending is still like a gut punch.

this book was WILD from beginning to end - i’ve never read a book that was so difficult to put down.

i went into this read expecting simply to be torn between a possibly unreliable narrator and a possibly unhinged daughter - and although it delivered on that front and certainly kept me guessing, it was so, so much more than that. this book examined neglect, abuse, intergenerational trauma, nature versus nurture, and grief in such a thoughtful and complex way.

it was deeply emotional and thought-provoking, while also being unsettling and dark. i also really appreciated the short chapters - they made what was already a fast-paced and addictive novel an even quicker read

OMG this book. Probably not the best week for me to read this but this book was written beautifully. It tugs at your heart strings. The ending had me a little shock.

If ‘tone,’ of delivery is really important to you then Marin Ireland may be your choice of narrator. Ireland delivers just the right edge of cynicism. This narrator on Audiobooks delivers the interior dialogue of Blythe with finesse and aplomb as she fights to stay a good mom regardless of who precipitates the battle for her heart/ soul.

What a duo!! Audrain for her courage to broach this very sensitive topic and Ireland for orating her words and breathing an additional zest into them.

Hands down excellent story telling at its finest!!!
