Good grief this book was boring. It was a series of characters, all of whom have political positions in the British hierarchy and connections to each other. But none of said characters have a personality. In fact none of them seem to like each other very much, even when we were specifically told that they liked each other. It felt like trudging through most of it, thankfully it was short. Even the reveal at the end was boring, like everyone was involved but not really.

Great coming of age story. If the king of England was a Black teen, being hounded by his family's secrets. Twist ending too. LGBTQA+. #goodreadsgivaway

I actually couldn’t get into it. The best part was the mystery but then I kinda figured it out in the middle so it was like okayyy??? It was hard to follow at time as well…

Repeated plot twists do not a good book make.

I felt this was a bit boring at first, but the more I listened the more intrigued I got. I felt some of the race/queer intersection with royalty issues were forced or maybe overly stated in such a way it felt like it was being spelled out too much for the reader. The plot twists the last 2 hours of the book made this read worthwhile. If you’re looking for family drama, suspense, and mystery with characters that are black, queer and royal, then this YA pick could be for you.
