It's not often that I listen to an audiobook lasting just under 32 hours and at the end, think “I'm sorry it's over.” One hazard of listening to mysteries on audio is that it can be hard to keep up with a long list of suspects. Galbraith effortlessly reminds you of who's who in the large cast of characters without it interrupting the flow of the story. Best of all, it advances the relationship of Robin and Strike, albeit in tiny baby steps. Now begins the long, long wait for the next book in the series.
Murder mysteries are always intriguing. The expectation with this one was high as the book had a disappearance that happened years ago. However, all the excitement and intrigue fizzles out during the long course of this book. It is way, way, way too long and the twists are meaningless.
I was interested the whole way through. It's very long, and they interview a lot of characters and chase some leads that don't go anywhere, but each character they encounter is so real and interesting that the reader stays engaged.

I really enjoy this series. I thought this particular one is a bit long but otherwise good.
If you believe reading this book is supporting a problematic author and wish to avoid it, that is certainly your right and you need read no further.
If you've been lead to believe this book has a transphobic plot, then you've been misled. There's no transgender plot, subplots, themes, insinuations, etc. It's just a very well-crafted mystery that is an excellent continuation of the series.

I absolutely adore this series. And the performer/narrator is perfect for the part. I hope the series never loses it's charm.
I’m a huge fan of Strike and Robin, was this read was long anticipated for me. I wasn’t disappointed and I highly recommend.
