Definitely one of the strongest books in the series. Focusing a lot on family and grief.

This is a long book, 927 pages, to be exact. I enjoyed reading it, although it is hard to read in bed, because it's so heavy. I have really liked the whole Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott series, though I am not sure that Galbraith can sustain their convoluted semi-courtship much longer, and I'm not sure how the series will fare if they marry (or just pair up). Anyway, as usual, there's a main plot, featuring the disappearance (something like 40 years ago) of a young doctor. Strike and Ellacott are hired by her now adult daughter to find out what happened, and there are plenty of suspects. The original police detective in charge of the case went off the deep end, and so his notes are cryptic and not necessarily useful. Meanwhile, the agency has other cases that develop, and we learn more about Strike's family--his mother, aunt, uncle, and famous father, as well as several of his half-siblings. Ellacott's family is more developed, as is her past both with her husband Matthew and before. It's worth the read, if you like the series already.
Another great Strike novel! Great suspense and build up with multiple cases on at the same time. I am also loving how the characters lives are progressing. Can't wait for another!
