elizabeth o'roark has a way of making me feel so deeply for both the main character AND the love interest. after reading about tali and hayes in the first book i wasn't sure i could care about drew and her boyfriend's brother, but BOY was i wrong!! drew an josh are my everything and i can recommend this book to any romance lover who's looking for the perfect blend of sweet, angsty, and steamy <3
If you know me, then you know that I LOVE an ex's brother romance. BUT. I read a review where it says that the H brings his (kind of) ex to vacation + there's a hot nurse where he works that has a thing for him and hits on him. I can already predict that this shit's gonna annoy me. It seems trivial in the grand scheme of things, but I don't want to mess with my head unnecessarily so imma pass on this one too. Maybe this author isn't for me lmao. I DESPISE DRAMA
emotional
lighthearted
Hmmm… Not sure about this one. Drew was unlikeable. More than that, she was very different than how she seemed in [b:A Deal with the Devil|58253755|A Deal with the Devil (Devil, #1)|Elizabeth O'Roark|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1626093034l/58253755._SY75_.jpg|91308857]. Instead of being an overly-trusting woman with low self-esteem and an eagerness to believe the best of people, she was a claws-out adversarial woman with a dark sense of humor. The swap was odd. It also made it seem even stranger that she would put up with Davis and Six for so long.
Josh is Dr. McDreamy and would tower above even the average romance novel male lead. I actually looked it up and even Chris Hemsworth would be a couple of inches shorter than Josh. Thankfully he has a POV because I really needed breaks from Drew's internal monologue.
Except in her softer moments, I didn’t really buy her and Josh as a couple. I can’t imagine a real life Josh falling for and investing in this version of Drew. Unfortunately, I think he would have really liked Drew from Book 1.
Unfortunately, I think I would have really liked this book if it had been Drew from Book 1.
I did actually love the family dynamics of Josh’s family. It worked really well. It seemed believable and did a lot for the plotting.

I picked this book up because I wanted a break from my current monthly TBR books, and I just wanted a light read.
I was so wrong when I expected it to be an easy read.
This book was a rollercoaster.
There were two parts to the book. First part where the characters were in Hawaii for the vacation, and the second part where they were back home.
First part was good. It was bearable and even enjoyable at times. But when Six came into the picture, it was pure torture. Then, that torture dragged on to the second part of the book.
Anyway, it was a good book for an unserious read but it wasn't the best. I gave it 2 and a half stars but Goodreads doesn't do half marks.

I loved this slow-burn, heartfelt, steamy, forbidden romance! It had everything I love to read in a perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat. Drew and Joshua didn't get off on the right foot at first meeting. Drew was invited on a family trip to Hawaii by Joshua's brother. She went as a friend only because she needed an escape from her own career that wasn't turning out to be what she wanted.
As the trip went on in the tropical, romantic paradise, Drew and Joshua struggled to keep others happy. But lines started to blur when Josh and Drew saw and understood each other more than anyone else. They tried to ignore the chemistry and attraction between them, but the more crazy situations they ended up in together, the closer they became. But what will happen when the trip is over and their lives are in different parts of the world? This was a funny, moving and steamy story that captured my heart. I loved watching Drew and Joshua's relationship grow and get stronger. They fit so well together and their and chemistry was palpable.
Samantha Brentmoor, and Lee Samuels did an amazing job portraying both Drew and Joshua in all their strengths and vulnerabilities. Together, these narrators brought this emotional, heartfelt, hot and steamy romance to life, keeping me totally engaged from start to finish.
