This was not what I expected based upon the book blurb or the Drew we met in the first book, but that wasn't a bad thing. I liked this one.

I liked both Drew and Josh, and was annoyed at pretty much everyone else, ha. Davis was of course the scummiest of douchebags. Six was also pretty terrible. It made me frustrated numerous times that Drew had put up with either of them for so long, but thankfully it was mostly just alluded to in the past and we didn't have to spend time actually seeing her be a pushover.

Josh was just a really solid dude. Coming into the book, I was expecting a little more brooding bad boy kind of vibe, but actually he was just a generic really solid dude... And it worked for the story.

I have read three books by Elizabeth and I can confidently say that she is a master at slow, but meaningful build ups. If there’s one thing I cannot stand with romance novels is how characters fall so quickly for each other. O’Roark gives her characters plenty of time to build trust and love. Then, when she gets to the steamy parts, she is great at that too.

I took a week long hiatus from reading and this was my first book back. It’s safe to say that my slump is broken, destroyed, obliterated completely because I am in love!!

Joshua and Ilana/Drew were the absolute best pairing and I am in love. I don’t even think I can articulate how much I loved this book because it was everything.

The plot ,the characters, the villains all a 10/10 and I would recommend it in a heart beat. I’ve always been a sucker for pop star romances because it shows not everyone’s whose life seems perfect actually is perfect and Drew was the perfect example. Joshua is your standard run into fire hero who will love you completely and wholly and was the perfect match from Drew.

If there was a couple that I would put money on to stay together forever they would be it!!

What a stimulating and fulfilling story!
I thoroughly loved the wit, the banter and the humor. It’s so sharp and utterly entertaining.
It’s mature yet inappropriate sometimes in such a fun, laugh out loud way.
The characters deliver such clever quips. The comedy hit the mark every time for me.
I love the way the writer balances those elements and gave an engaging, enjoyable story with depth and characters that show emotional growth.

There’s beautiful moments when the characters say something so raw and unexpected it almost took my breath away. I think those moments and the humorous moments were perfectly balanced.

The backdrop of Hawaii was a lovely part of the mood and story. I could almost smell the plumeria and feel the ocean breeze.

Drew is really likable, she’s a “pop princess” who plays down her talent and intellect. She’s very humble. She’s also a bit of an emotional mess.
She is caring, generous and much smarter than she gives herself credit for.

Josh is the older brother of her on and off again boyfriend (I’m using boyfriend loosely, they have an agreement of casual dating, plus they aren’t technically “back together” on the Hawaii trip.) Yes, it’s still complicated and taboo for Drew and Josh to have an attraction and feelings.
Josh seems like a disagreeable, uptight Doctor and a bit of a snobby humanitarian at first. It was so satisfying to see his true nature come to light. He’s extremely likable and very sexy. He’s a really good person, not to be mistaken for boring or weak. He is a bit alpha in all the best ways. He’s quick witted and intelligent. Extremely caring and giving.
And he’s kind of the white knight type who’ll rescue and kick some a*s for his lady. He is super swoon worthy.

There’s great emotional depth to the characters and story.
The chemistry is AMAZING and the slow burn pays off, these two are blazing hot together! They are seriously sexy.

There are some secondary characters that aren’t particularly likable but, they aren’t made into villains. They are shown as human’s with weaknesses and I really love that the author doesn’t demonize them.
Things aren’t black and white. People aren’t all great and put together. And I can still dislike some of them ;)
The story flowed so well, I enjoyed every single word.
It had an unexpected event towards the end that was really emotional and big.

The secondary characters are great, Tali and Hayes from “A Deal With the Devil” by the author make some cameo appearances, I adore them and their book as much as this one. I recommend it highly!

I love these characters, their journey is fun AND deeply emotional.
The writing is top notch. I love this author’s style.
I’ll be recommending this to everyone.
It’s a must read!
