I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!
What a fantastic, realistic and poignant read.
I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially if you liked "The Hate U Give". I will definitely be picking up anything she writes in the future.
I was blown away by everything that happened in this book and it gave some serious insight into the lives of those that fly under the radar of the safety systems in our society.

I was not ready for the dark places that this novel descends into. This was a challenging, sometimes horrifying and yet very realistic read. Ripped from tragic headlines and all too often current scenarios that we hear and read about in different media outlets, this is the story of Monday and her relentless friend Claudia.
I think the less you know the better reading experience you will have. I suspected an element was connected to the plot roughly halfway through the novel, but I thought to myself, surely the author is not going to go there, but yes indeed she took us there. I think this novel went into the pits of hell with this story and unfortunately, for some people the pits of hell is their reality.
Jackson’s writing is stellar, heart wrenching and relatable. I’m still stunned by this story but I’m definitely glad I read it. These stories deserve to be told.

The main premise of the book is engaging and well done - how children can be failed by the system and the adults in their lives, the specific intensity of childhood friendships, growing up and facing real tragedy. Unfortunately, the messy timeline that only gets worse when dealing with an extra, shoe horned in twist that adds nothing to the story. It could have been a 5 star read but unfortunately gets overworked ultimately overshadows the real horror at the heart of the story.
