Oh my gods, I hated this. The dude was a literal predator and the girl had no backbone. Also, WHERE IS THE CONSENT? Ugh, this was so bad. Everytime she would make a decision or come to some stupid realisation, I would literally start screaming at my Kindle. All they did was manipulate each other and those around them. And I tell you, no character in this book was appealing to me. Her own freaking mother!
Needless to say, I didn't like this.

I struggled with this book and the review because I couldn’t understand why Zoey was in a relationship with Carter when he did worse, and treated her worse than Jake. She was right to report Jake but she couldn’t and wouldn’t report Carter? So she decided to get to know Carter instead and have a weird rape relationship. Her response to Jake when he asked why she was in a relationship with Carter didn’t explain anything to me. Carter took the time to know her? Yeah? The writing was good but I couldn’t move pass Zoey and the overall plot. Sorry…
When I initially read the first few chapters a few months ago, admittedly I was turned off and kind of puzzled as to how anyone can even continue this story let alone rate it so high. Then later, I saw so many people I follow and interact with on bookstagram read this and the majority of them loved it. I thought what would compel them to read those first few chapters and then continue the book and eventually fall in love with it? I for the life of me couldn't understand. Well, I guess there's just no explaining because this past week when I finally decided to bite the bullet and read past those first chapters, I ended up freaking loving this book.
I loved this book so much! I mean it's not what I expected it to be and quite frankly, I don't know what I was expecting after those first chapters but whatever it was I immensely enjoyed it. I loved Zoey and Carter's twisted and dark relationship. I loved that Carter has no boundaries and no shame but Zoey is fine with that. She loves the challenge and through their relationship she discovers things about herself she was afraid to vocalize and embrace things she didn't even know she craved. She realized she does have a darker side and she's not afraid of embracing it with Carter at the helm. I never felt Zoey was weak or a pushover. Yes, Carter pretty much bulldozed her to get what he wants but she would always express her feelings to him, tell him what made her upset and move on. Carter, oh man, what a surprise. I expected to read about another alpha asshole and yes he can be that but he really had depth and he's such a layered and complex character. I don't think I have ever read a character quite like him.
The characters are so well rounded and I believed in the progression of their story arc. I felt satisfied in the development of their characters. I was never disinterested in the story and frankly I couldn't put it down which is a testament to the writing because the writing was just on point. It was fast paced and the transitions flowed smoothly. The dialogue and the banter was fantastic. It ticked all the boxes for me and I loved every second of it. This book is easily one of my, if not, top reads of 2021 and I'm already planning to re-read it already.

Wowwww. I got the vibe from tiktok that this book you’ll either love it or hate it. The trigger warnings were VERY much necessary and still doesn’t fully prepare you for what you’ll read. Having said all that, Sam sucked me into this world and I had to see it through. I definitely think this book is not meant for everyone, however, I do think it was written well. This is my first bully romance book so I wasn’t 100% sure how the dynamic would work with the main characters but this story definitely kept me interested. How I view books with TW’s is that everyone will NOT enjoy it just based on the fact that TW’s need to be listed. Do I condone this behavior in real life? Absolutely not, but most dark romance is anything I’d ever condone in real life either.
Was it an almost 500 pages book or just one chapter on repeat? I was constantly waiting for sth to happen and it didn’t. Nothing. Nothing remotely new at least.
After 70-80% skimmed the rest.
It started as a 4 star read for me. Went downhill afterwards

5 stars for Untouchable by Sam Mariano. This is my first book from this author and man it was a doozie. I would consider this a dark standalone bully romance. I would not recommend reading this book if you are easily triggered by bullying, abuse, rap and more. This book is dark and twisted. I am not going to lie , there were points when I cringed a little about what was happening but it was still a great book. In this book we have Zoey and Carter as our main characters. Zoey was recently sexually harassed by Jake, a football player. When she turned him in , she became the outcast. In their small Texas town you do not go against the football players. Carter is another football player who has a lot of issues. He is dark and some may even say he is crazy. He is your typical high school star football player, a playboy and mister popular. The only difference is Carter has a dark side. “If you’re looking for Prince Charming and I’m your best shot, you are in a truly dire situation.” Zoey does not understand why she is still attracted to Carter after everything he does to her, but she is. I am telling you if you love dark bully romance then this is the book for you . You can not go wrong with this one .
Another hit
Love love love! This was not an easy premise to try and sell us, but you succeeded. The story was sexy, funny and exciting. Can’t wait for more
