Nope, no, just no. Skipped a lot, but finished as I wanted to see where the author will lead the story. There is no way to spin saying NO into romance, not even under “dark” genre! The h enters the relationship with H after he forced himself on her. And he continuous to do so and manipulating her most of the story and she interprets this as a rough sex and that he likes her. Wtf??
He's insane!!
Ok so this book was strange!! Reading the whole thing though I understand why he is the way he is but no still means no!! I do like this book though well written and a great story she tries to understand him and why he is the way he is the whole way. He definitely went too far a few times especially in the beginning he makes Jake look like a saint I almost wish this was a series though like different people finding love also like Grace and kasey possibly Jake also? Just throwing it out there I feel bad for Jake even though he was the one in the wrong at first he seems sad and I wanna know what happened to the rest of them pretty please lol

Lol Don't really know what to say or how to rate tbh.
The first few chapters are a HUGE tw, very tough to get through.
However, I couldn't stop reading bc for the life of me I couldn't figure out how this was going to tuen into a romance lol
You may not agree with the dynamics between the MCs but the dynamics did eventually make "sense"

If you like this book i love that for you (IM BEING SERIOUS I SWEAR) but she was not my cup of tea. Ending felt unfinished and i felt like i was expecting so much more to it. Like mehhhh.

Oof another 5⭐ read.
I really enjoyed this book.
I wasn't so keen on the ending since it felt unfinished in a way because I always like to know if there's more to the characters life after the fact. It makes me nosey and I love the icks people shy away from.
Otherwise, would happily recommend this ten fold and wish I could read it for the first time over and over again.

I will be the first to say that I was leery coming into this because it was a high school story. Yet, I plunged in any way because I love this author. Her accidental Witness series and Mateo are one of my all time favorite series. I knew going in that this author was going to push the envelope because that is what she does. I am glad I trudged through because this book kept me up all night.
Did this book make me uncomfortable at times? Absolutely. Did the content seem extreme? Absolutely. Did I want to throat punch her hero? ABSOLUTELY. Yet, I also fell in love with him. I started to see the cracks in the armor. His methods were extreme but it was also something that I liked about him. I enjoyed watching how he calculated the situation or environment to get what he wanted. It was fine watching him to see how he got what he wanted. The author did an exceptional job at creating him because if I am honest he was pretty irredeemable in the beginning so that says something about her skill as a writer. Yet, in all honesty, I am not surprised because she made Mateo (From Accidental Witness) into one of my top book boyrfriends and considering how he started out at the beginning of that series that says A LOT. Carter reminds me a lot of a certain character in a different popular series because he is just as VICIOUS and cutthroat in getting what he wants and gives no crap about it. how it started is the biggest difference in this story because after all the games it still resulted in a huge gesture that is endearing and leaving the audience with the idea that he is a HUGE Donkey's butt the major of the time except when it comes to his love for Zoe.
I won't lie and say that I understood the draw for Zoe after starting out so strong against a different encounter to give in so easily with Carter. However, as the story progressed it started to fall into place. Especially with the whopper of a secret that is revealed at the end of the book about Carter. I did have to remind myself several times that Zoe was still in high school and she sometimes acted like it. Both Carter and Zoe had some great dialogue. Zoe was spunky and feisty and on top of the game with quick comebacks. Carter never seemed young to me.
In regards to the progression of their feelings, I am not here to judge. Who is to say how either of these characters should feel or act after how they started out? It sure isn't my place to judge. Having experienced something similar in real life, I know that personally how I react is by owning the power (hard to explain) and turning them to suit me. There is no #kinkshaming here. Maybe, that is what makes other reviewers uncomfortable is that it seems incomprehensible to them that this relationship could progress. No one knows what turns someone on and that is okay. Only we do. I for one thought the author did a great job delving into trying to understand the behaviors whether via research in the story to cracking the armor and facade.
There were some areas that I wanted to be flushed out but for the most part, I was very happy with how this book was done. I was worried how the ending happened so fast after a very long progression of the story in a short period of time. That could also be because I did not want this story to end.
I applaud this author. The fact that she can write a book that keeps people coming back and forth in reading it or lingers on their mind to me shows her talent. Not every book is going to be a home run or hit for every reader. I know this book is not for everyone with the warning (that the author lets you know beforehand) but for me this one really was.

Finally a good hate to love!
I picked this up cause it was a hate to love thinking it would probably be trash- like most. Thank god I was wrong, wrong, wrong! I absolutely loved this book. Yes, there were a lot of errors,- I’m sure reviewers will point out- but the story was so good I could careless!
Carter was a pos in the beginning, I really thought he could never redeem himself after the first encounter, in my eyes. Yeah, he ended up being every woman’s fantasy.
Loved Zoey she was a great heroine. She did a lot of things you don’t see a heroine do in situations. For me she was amazing!
I honestly hate their story ended. I wanted a book two but I don’t feel gipped either. Definitely going to check out more of this authors books!

No way they last. I give it a year before he’s consistently cheating on her. After their date he went to his ex girlfriend’s house to “maybe” have sex because he didn’t know if he was going to get his needs met because heroine is a “church” girl (gag. Really? What a douche. You can’t keep it in your pants for more than a week?) Then he fooled around for a bit with the ex before deciding not to take it further. And he lied about it and kept saying the ex girlfriend was lying even though she wasn’t. I know they weren’t official, official .. but they were very close and way past fooling around with other people. Also he almost seemed proud that he spent so much time cheating on his ex girlfriend. Blamed her for it too and laughed about it when discussing her catching him with a married teacher. The last straw was the third act conflict when she didn’t want him to sleep with other women (they weren’t officially together at this time) and he told her his options were force her or he fucks other women to get his needs met( because once again, he can’t keep it in his pants). I love a bully romance but he’s a hoe and has way too many icks. Run girl, run.
