Untouchable

I don’t even know where to begin. This book has my most hated heroine I’ve ever read about.
At this point with this being my second book from this author, I think I’m going to stop TBRing her books.
I cannot get into her writing.

I’m not a wet blanket.
I love bully romances. Noncon, dubcon, and dark AF books. This book? It was an utter disaster.
I nearly DNF it a few times but this bitch isn’t a quitter when so many people recommend this book.
It was a hot mess express.

2.5 - 3 starts, I can’t decide.

I’m so conflicted about this book. I enjoyed parts of it but the absolute disregard for consent in this book really left a bad taste in my mouth.

I had to think about this one. I knew there was some content in this that was controversial before I read it but after a lot of talk on some SM about it I thought I'd go ahead and try it out. While it is well written and the editing is great, I think one of the big problems I ended up having is that the MC never really grew and never really redeemed himself. The MC is a rapist and is abusive whenever he doesn't get his way, that just doesn't really change and he doesn't plan on changing that behavior. So since there is no real redeeming happening I just can't like the book.

This was A LOT

Okay let me just start by saying this book was a lot to swallow and literally just the first freaking chapter like it was a lot to take. And if you've read it you know I know you know what we know, and that's all I'm going to leave that at. Cuz that scene took the cake and honestly I had to really rethink life's like life. Carter Mahoney is oh he's he's a bad man he's a bad man he's not a good person in real life he's not even a good person slightly in this book like he's slightly a good person but he's definitely like that he Border Lines sociopath which is what Zoe kept calling him. And I kind of agree with that sentiment.

With that being said did I like Untouchable I yes and no like it was an easy read it wasn't I wasn't triggered by anything even though some of the stuff that went in there is just like unspeakable and like I feel like if you're into that you might need to seek therapy but that's you know that's you know your choices I don't kink shame it is what it is. I did however give it a three and a half star rating bumping it down to a three-star rating for Goodreads only because to me it was too long I did not feel like this book should have been as long as it was. 52 freaking chapters is 52 chapters too many this thing could have been capped off at I don't know 20. However I did like the character of Carter Mahoney I absolutely love Zoe Zoe is like she's Queen she's a queen because like she has the mental stability of a freaking Amazon Warrior to go through that and still be like I know who I am this is just a road bump obstacle in my life hands down I give her praise I mean it's not like she could tell anybody what happened cuz even if she told the people in the town the people in the town only cared about football so like I guess I have to be okay with her choices because when you look at all the factors she wasn't going to come out on top anyways with snitching I guess. But I love Zoe, I love to hate Carter I did like his storyline and find out you know he has a daughter and I kind of knew Chloe was his daughter because like it just made sense with them being so many years apart and him treat her like she was his it just made sense it wasn't really a plot twist for me now the little twist and turn that happened with finding out about her mama mind boggling explosive I didn't even I didn't think like I did think that was the case but like I had imagined something completely different happening not specifically that but something in a similar real house just not that.

Overall I did happen to like the book, the author really did a good job. Would I recommend this yes and no this book is not for the fainted heart in that first chapter so please heat her warning before you decide you going to go ahead and read this God damn book.

DNF at 11%. I just can't do this kind of story atm.

Decided to reread 1/24/23

Haven’t even finished this and I honestly don’t know if I’m going to. Let’s start with the positives: good writing, interesting plot, witty banter, etc. Negatives? HERO ACTUALLY RAPES THE HEROINE IN CHAPTER 1! Rape without penetration (forced her to give him a bj and THREATENED actual rape if she didn’t comply) is uh...STILL RAPE! There are ZERO redeeming qualities about this hero. ZERO. He needs to be IN JAIL. PERIOD. And the heroine?! IS SHE ON CRACK TOO? Literally the chapter after he RAPED her, he bought her a 50$ gift card and she was like “aw :)” like??????? DRUGS. BOTH CHARACTERS ARE ON DRUGS! I love dark bully romances and I love anti hero’s. I also love when boundaries in dark books like this are pushed. I totally love exploration and all that. When it comes to reading these books I’m pretty much open to everything. But RAPE. ACTUAL, REAL LIFE RAPE, is not something that I will ever be able to get behind? He doesn’t deserve to be happy, he’s a BAD PERSON. I was rooting for everyone EXCEPT him. And the heroine is honestly just stupid. Like genuinely just a dumb ass but hey at least she’s not a RAPIST so I definitely liked her better than the hero! That being said, I probably will finish this book. I need to see what made carter out to be such a terrible shitty waste of human fucking space. I doubt whatever it is will make me like him better since you know I’ve never really been a fan of RAPISTS but anyways. 2 stars because of the positives I guess and the fact that I’m prob still gonna finish it, even if I’m gonna have to roll my eyes every 2 pages to get through it. There’s nothing cute sweet or redeeming about a rapist. There’s no reformation for him. This book sends the literal worst message. Absolute last book by this author based solely on the fact that her hero is a complete shitty douche of a human.
