I listened to the audiobook but after finishing it I will definitely buy it the next time I see it in a bookstore. It is one of those books that you want to reference in your life when things come up. It’s not an easy read by any means, you will learn a lot about yourself if you come to it with an open heart and mind.

What can I say - love her work. She is almost a cliche now in how adored she is, but there is a reason for it. She is excellent at getting to the heart of some of our most complex emotions and barriers to happiness and breaking it down in ways that feel accessible, non-judgemental and provide hope for change. The audiobook is great (and I particularly appreciate how she modifies the text to take into account the different medium - by repeating important points etc) but I will also grab a hard copy as it’s a book I’ll want to refer back to.

Grateful to my book club for forcing me back into the world of nonfiction! While I enjoyed the content of this book and the social scientist in me agrees that language and definitions are important, I didn’t enjoy reading this book. The overall experience felt a bit awkward, like reading a textbook or a coffee table book from cover to cover. I can see how listening to one of Brené Brown’s podcasts might be a better format for curious, casual consumers.
