History is very important to know. The truth about said history is even more important. Interesting I know more about the holocaust than I do about Native American genocide, rape, murder and partial extinction.

cried a couple times reading this. practically every single character dies and it should get predictable but it doesn't and it hurts every time

Holy shit that was depressing. What the Americans did to the natives is unforgivable. It was just… horrific. The cruelty of it all. My god.

So much has been said about this book that I can hardly add a word more to do it service. Truly a devastating read, and a must-read entry level telling of the slow strangulation of native culture and society in the American West from 1860-1890.
