I don't think I'll ever give these books less than a 5 star rating, to be honest. They're just so entertaining and educational at the same time and you end up feeling for the Ingalls so much in every story and wanting them to just be happy and safe and healthy. This story was no exception. We did get to know Almanzo a bit better and I like where it ended. I'm looking forward to the last book. I would recommend this book and series. 5 out of 5 stars.

This was the first time I’ve read this book and I think it might be my favorite one of the series (do I say that every time?). I had a big, goofy grin on my face nearly the whole time I listened to it. This book details the last few years of Laura’s schooling, the three seasons that she taught school in little towns nearby, and her courtship with Almanzo Wilder. Friends, I swooned every time Almanzo’s horses flew into town to take her home on weekends while she was away teaching or when he’d arrive at their homestead to take her on Sunday rides. The next book in the series is the last and I’m nervous – I always bawl at the ends of things (which is why I still haven’t watched the last season of Parks and Rec) and know that I’ll be overcome with something when it ends. I still have a couple of weeks until my library hold is up so I have time to prepare myself.

I loved reading about Laura and Almanzo's courtship. It wasn't as cohesive as some of the previous books with the jumps in time, but still very enjoyable.

I love this book. I can’t get enough of the romance between Almanzo and Laura. I love how he drives her back home every weekend - truly a knight in shining armor!! I also adore their buggy rides and when he takes her to singing school. My heart melts at every little story. When I was a girl, this was the first “romance” I fell in love with and couldn’t get enough!

This is such a heartwarming series! I wasn’t sure if I had read this one when I was a kid, but I must have read it at least once as I remembered some parts of it. It wasn’t my favorite, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I can’t even imagine teaching school at the age of 15. But she was married at 18, and I married my first husband at 17, so that wasn’t hard to imagine. I can’t wait to read the last book in the series to see if I remember it as well!

I finished up my reread of this series today. It's just comforting, to read those old childhood favorites with new eyes. My heart still skips a beat when Almanzo asks Laura if he can see her home that first time! I still get scared with Laura during her first teaching job (how awful was that Mrs Brewster?!)

I chalk a lot of how good I did in certain classes in school to stories like these, and wish more kids today were still reading them.

ETA 2017: I think that, in spite of this series not being romance, that Almanzo Wilder is one of my top most romantic males. He's sweet and caring, and he lets Laura be Laura. He keeps fetching her from school, even after she tells him she's not interested, and then keeps on trying after the school thing is all done! And he lets Laura drive his crazy, half broken horses!
