Not as innovative as the first Wayward Children, but a completely captivating story that's just a weird and dark portal fantasy. I really liked getting to see more of the Moors, and I loved Jack even more by the end (there's a lot of understanding about Jill as a character, too, but Jack is just so good).

Jack and Jill went down the stairs to see what was awaiting. They found the perfect world where they could each be completely themselves.

Jill who was always the β€œboy” her father demanded, was able to be a beautiful vampire princess.

Jack who was always the perfect clean well-dressed girl, was able to work with her hands. Although she abhorred getting dirty.

Things were perfect for them both until Jill got impatient.

disappointed by the fact that we lost another queer character in this book...we have enough dead lesbians to last a lifetime and I trusted this author to do better. enjoyable otherwise, but it lost a star for that.

"Every choice feeds every choice that comes after, whether we want those choices or no."

What a dark, atmospheric, gothically gruesome little story this was.. and I absolutely devoured it! It has been years since I read the first installment to this series, but that did not take away any of my enjoyment.

The intricate world that McGuire created here is incredible. I love visiting the portal world that opens up for these special kids. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the twins chosen reality and learning more of their backstory, especially after the events of book 1.

I may reread Every Heart a Doorway before continuing on with this wacky series. Nonetheless, I look forward to discovering more doorways and exploring more within this universe.

Jack and Jill 😍😍😍 I wasn't *quite* as head over heels for this one as I was for the first one, but it was still a very strong installment. This series is just so fun, and diverse, and dark, and I am living.

Another McGuire that leaves me wanting more. I wish that these were longer but can’t wait to read the next one.
