The illustrations were gorgeous but I wasn't really compelled by the storyline

February 2018 - a mixed bag. The art is fun, the story enjoyable to read aloud, and I love the concept of a bad mood moving from person to person (or animal to animal) - Ben definitely thought it was funny, and found the pants thing hilarious at face value. But it bothers me that it's a pushy man and a woman of color, and that this somehow leads to them getting married?! Totally unnecessary to the bad mood message, and disturbing.

I liked the concept of the bad mood being passed around, but the dry cleaner segment made me cringe.

I like this. I get the criticism, but I also relate to how a bad mood can affect you and the people around you throughout your day. I love Matt Forsythe's illustrations. I think if you read it one-on-one with a child there's a lot of fodder for conversation about social and emotional learning.

Disappointing overall and in particular the wedding between a woman and the man who at best could be described as having been rude and demanding towards her, at worst harassing her at work. Let’s have an end to children’s stories where male characters “get the girl” by being mean and aggressive towards her.

Wonderful book to read with a small child during "bad moods".
