I'm happy to have learned about the life of such a pioneering woman. But I must say that the book was a bit boring at times. It's very detailed and depending on why you picked up this book, there might be parts you don't really care about.
I'm mainly went into this to read about abortion and women's rights so I did get some of that but there's also a lot about Madame Restell's life as a millionaire and her relationships.
It's a good book overall.

An enjoyable book that does a great job at examining the politics of abortion in the 1800s through the lens of Madame Restell.  Wilson does an okay job narrating, but highly suggest skipping the interview with her and Wright as Wilson completely takes over the interview.

Definitely pop history… sometimes a bit too informal for someone who is used to academic history, but I think this is what we need for the general public
*also there could have been more criticism of Restell, at times this felt like a “great-(wom)man history”
