Too dramatized. Would have preferred a less-biased/opinionated writer.

I’m learning a few interesting things and I love Mara Wilson as the narrator, but I’m not loving this kind of book on audio at the moment.

Important info - would be a great reference for a research paper

I think my biggest takeaway from this book is that the more things change, the more things stay the same. Which is depressing.

There are times when this drags a bit, but I loved Mara Wilson's narration. And overall it was a funny, fascinating look at a complicated and overlooked piece of American history. Madame Restell was multifaceted and a badass.

Thank you to Libro.fm for the ALC.

Given the chance, I would beat the shit out of Anthony Comstock.

Really fascinating look at a remarkable woman and the changing social mores around sexuality (particularly female sexuality) and abortion before and during the gilded age of the US.
