You will learn a whole lot about who Michael Jackson was. This book will fill in the same blanks the media filled, only with the truth. I have become extremely heartbroken with the way the media industry made Michael Jacksons life. To know and study who he really was is to fall in love, L-O-V-E, with a man who gave so much of himself to the world, through insane rumors and headlines, he kept his chin up and fought back by not changing and keeping the love first in his heart. He's the top-dog under-dog and though he's gone, his music, love, message and influence live on. We should all learn to be more like Michael Jackson.

Jermaine goes into many if not most of all the headlines and rumors and gives you the real story and the reactions. We see MJ through his brothers eyes. Filled with love but not excluding the bad side. The side of MJ that could cause hurt, like distancing himself from his brothers or his impulses that would lead to others including Jermaine having to pick up the pieces. With such distance between them you get the whole story of the closeness before and then during their parting of ways to pursuit their own artistic careers and then the solo years. No one is a total saint, not even Michael but he was not the man in the headlines.

I recommend doing research while reading this book because there was one point where I was thrown. Totally irrelevant but I have one question: did Dean Martin really own a pet bear?

4 out of 5 stars just because some points get repetitive to the point of useless. That's about it!

Best writing of a Michael Jackson book I have read so far, was all about real human interactions and makes the reader feel like you are really there witnessing the stories. Gave insights into Michaels life that no one else besides his brother could have

4.5 stars. A very interesting and heartfelt look into the phenomenal life of Michael through his brother Jermaine's eyes. I felt like Jermaine inserted his own story a bit too much into this book that is supposed to be about Michael's life and achievements. That is why I knocked off half a star but otherwise I really enjoyed this. It was nice to have a few of the rumors confirmed/corrected or put to rest. I put off reading the last part of the book which covered the last years of Michael's life because I knew it would be very sad. And, it was, but I feel like Jermaine did a good job of finishing the book on a positive note. I highly recommend this for any Michael Jackson fan or anyone who is likes to read about interesting people of history.

A truly sincere, honest account written from the depths of a brother's loving heart. Michael was misunderstood, unfairly treated and misrepresented, but his music always spoke a truth which is there for everyone to see, if one chooses to. Thank you, Jermaine, for this insight, and for reaffirming alot of what I ALWAYS knew and believed. I'm glad this truth is out, whether the world chooses to believe it or not.

And to think it took me nearly 5 minutes to decide to buy this book. I have been in love with Michael Jackson for the past 2 years or so now and this book only fueled my appreciation and respect for him and his work. Highly recommended!
