* Re-read

I enjoyed this book a lot (and thankfully didn't remember the details since I first read it!). It kept me wanting to know what would happen and I particularly enjoyed all the little details of the world that Rowling created.

I do think, more than anything, this book is like a fable with the moral being for all parents to actually write a will with guardianship instructions for small children. Why on earth would anyone allow him to continue living with the Dursleys? Would Lily and James have wanted that? Sheesh.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Since I have been labelled by my friends as a HUGE Harry Potter fan, I decided I should finally read the books… I have been wanting to read them for a while but never got around to it, and man I regret that now.

I loved this book so much and I was surprised how similar the movie was to it (I know it will go downhill from here). I really wanted to know more about the series in general as there are so many things left out in the movies that I just never knew about and I am excited to go on this journey.

This books as such a whirlwind of emotions and I love seeing the friendship between Ron and Hermione and Harry blossom and how the Weasleys basically adopted Harry at first sight. Their first adventure together was so entertaining and listening to them work with each others strengths and get closer had me addicted. I am excited to continue this series!!

SUMMARY:
Harry Potter has never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He’s never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All Harry knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys', his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. Harry’s room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn’t had a birthday party in eleven years. But then a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And there he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that’s been waiting for him . . .  if Harry can survive the encounter.

REVEIW:
Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. I first read this book many years ago then watched the movie when it was released and after more than 15 years decided to re-read the series when I got the sprayed edged paperback editions that were released this year. The story starts on the night Harry Potter lost his parents and he defeated the dreaded Lord Voldemort at just 1 years old. Harry is raised by his maternal aunt Petunia and her husband Vernon Dursley and grew up alongside his cousin Dudley, who is a spoiled boy that bullied everyone especially Harry. Thankfully on Harry's 11th birthday he learns he is a wizard just like his parents and that he would be escaping the Dursley's as he will be attending Hogwarts with other wizards and witches.
When Hagrid barged into the little shack that Harry and the Dursleys were staying in just to wish Harry a happy birthday and also to tell him that he's a wizard that is going to a school with other wizards and witches was a fun and exciting moment that changed Harry's life forever.

The moment was very special and life altering when Harry begged the Sorting Hat to place him in Gryffindor as he didn't want to be in Slytherin. It was a very scary moment for Harry when he was confronted with the cloaked figure drinking the dead unicorn's blod but was lucky enough to be saved by the centaur that gave him info. he would need later. When Prof. Dumbledore made sure to award Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville House points for all they did to stop Voldemort was an exciting moment especially when Gryffindor finally won.
I had fun revisiting with Harry, Ron and Hermione as they navigated their first year at Hogwarts. They go through so many adventures while figuring out the mystery of what was being hidden in the school. J.K. Rowling delivered a wonderful world of witch craft and wizardry full of adventures that captivated me from the very start to end. I'm looking forward to continuing my reading journey along with Harry, Ron and Hermione in the second book.
