I couldn't put this one down! We get introduced to this new series through Gage, the first brother in his family to find romance. Gage returns to his hometown for the first time in years after he originally left after one of his brothers was put in prison. His return, as you can imagine, starts with a bang as he reunites with the rest of his brothers as well as a certain deputy he used to know. It's gritty, tense, and full of two stubborn men fighting for dominance.
I really enjoyed this one and was interested from the beginning. All the brothers have their own personalities and demons and I think it's a great set up for a new series as I'm excited to see how each brother gets on now. Gage and Wyatt also felt very right for each other. If you like alpha x alpha with a touch of darkness and that edgy, hopeless desperation to your romance, you'll like this one!

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
I love me some Parker St. John ngl! The MCs are always bruised and torn up from fighting the good fight...most times in the shadows of their own grief. They're always intensely gorgeous, like only a dangerous creature can be. And they're always always just trying to survive the hand they got dealt by outrunning the cruelty that made them the hard bastards they were -before love found them- at the start...and at the heart...of every story! Needless to say, i ate. this. up. And the drama was as ferocious as they come!
The boys Boone adopted were all so very different from each other, so this series promises to be pure adrenaline fueled mayhem with each installment for sure. In Man of Honor, Gage and Wyatt's story was all kinds of sexy, dark, and bloody, but also a bit frustrating at times to read. Corruption always makes me furious and imagining the helplessness overwhelms me sometimes.
Love Parker's writing style, as always. Everything just worked for me! It was very easy to get caught up in this because a lot of this narrative was buoyed by the natural spooky allure of southern noir. You honestly can't miss because VIBES. Crooked cops with a generations-long grudge. An atmospheric foster home for the kids Wyatt saves. The moody broody bayou and a handful of troubled boys who Boone bonded as brothers, now grown men as formidable and vicious as a hurricane with teeth.
And between them there's loyalty in that way of being found and saved from the violence of others. The violence within is another story...actually it's more like 4 more stories, one for each of the Beaufort brothers still to come! Anyway, the OTT "misunderstanding" at the end there was crazy work without a doubt, but also understandable. So I do love the idea of these brothers being bound by savagery, vigilante justice and retribution. There was a lot here that was exciting and sinister, and i hope each installment gets even grittier because i know St. John and this series can handle the weight.
Man of Honor was an awesome start to a thrilling series that can only get better! Man of Lies is up next, and that's Mason and Silas' story, and i can already tell that it's gonna be wild and i absolutely cannot wait!

I requested a ARC of this book because I love Parker St.John's writing. I have to admit I'm not very fond with romance that also has violence and darker themes, but this one was very very good.
Gage and Wyatt are wonderful men, loyal, selfless, protective; they both made mistakes in the past they deeply regret but, luckily, even after years of separation, they still care about each other.
The first part of the story was raw and violent: the city, the surroundings, the people, it's almost all dark. The only two places that seem to bring some kind of peace are Wyatt's cottage and the Beaufort mansion.
This place is where the lives of all the broken boys (the ones from the past and the ones who live thare now) merge: Boone Beaufort built a safe place and his adoptive sons are trying to carry on with his legacy.
The corruption, the violence and the dirt that smother the city try to tarnish the house and the men too, so the Beaufort brothers have to fight a lot to survive.
Thankfully, despite of all the pain and darkness, Wyatt and Gage are able to find their way back to each other: the part where they reconnect is wonderful and very emotional. The physical scene are intimate ad beautiful, I really loved how the author made them declare their love for each other.
They're still not perfect and they still make mistakes, but they try hard to make things work.
The dynamic between the five brothers is very interesting and I can't wait to read every one of their stories: Gideon really intrigues me and, obviously, one of them (no spoiler) is on my personal black list after what he did. I surely need a good arc redemption for him.
I hope we won't have to wait long for the next book.
Very much recommended
