This book was all over the place. I feel like the author did not do enough world building to explain what was happening and the end felt very rushed and messy.

Huge shoutout to Entangled Teen for sending me an arc of this one!
This was my first Tracy Wolff book and overall I found it to be an entertaining read. I loved the premise of a school for misfit paranormals where their powers are kept on lockdown. When a huge storm hits the island the school is on things start to get out of control really fast.
There’s a wide cast of characters who are sassy and witty and terrifying. I had to keep reminding myself that this is a YA book though because the characters could be very immature at times and I had to keep telling myself it’s because they’re teenagers (I’ve been reading a lot more adult fantasy this year)
The only thing I didn’t love about this one was the attempt at a romance. I thought it was very obsessive pining and kinda got annoying when I’d be reading an intense scene and all of a sudden the MC would be thinking about her unrequited love … made worse by her being a teenager (in my opinion)
Definitely an entertaining read though!

It’s a decent story. I usually read more “adult” fantasy stories instead of YA… so this one felt very “jr high/high school” to me. Reminded me of reading twilight way back when that first came out. Good story, more suited for a younger audience though (as it is advertised so I can’t be disappointed).
