I think everyone a relate to the premise of this book where we just need to slow down and learn to enjoy the people we have around us, but some of the story bothered me. I found there were parts in the middle that were unnecessary and the fact that her friend had to tell her to appreciate what she had for her to actually do it was frustrating. I also found the end somewhat disappointing.

MY HEART HURTS RIGHT NOW 😭
We are all guilty of taking so many days for granted. What would you do if you knew at the end of the day you would lose a loved one? What if you had to live that day over and over again!? Would you do everything the same or would you wish you did everything differently?
* “Our love, our life together, has been the best thing that ever happened to me… I am going to go to sleep tonight holding you to me and believing that we will meet again, one day.”
* “ maybe when any of us dies we will always say it isn’t time that we need another day another hour another minute. How lucky we two were then to get this time. What a gift.”

I had to take several breaks throughout this. I found myself too emotional over the endless cycle. I never struggled to connect with the main character because sometimes…. I am her. (!!!!) We all like to think that we would wake up much sooner than she did and to see each day is a gift but I truly disagree. This is a literal hell for her… how can she see this Groundhog Day loop a gift?! Of course, after months of depression and coping, you wake from the fog. Which is exactly what happened.
I also read this concurrently with The Lonely Century by Noreena Hertz, who highlights our great need to be connected to technology (among several other things). I bring it up because it displays Emma’s addiction to her work, social media, and lack of attention to her surroundings. I didn’t do this 2 book read on purpose, but it was incredibly insightful nonetheless.
Anyways… congrats if you made it this far. I suggest this book for several reasons; A great cry, a hard reminder of being present, to show your family and friends your love and appreciation for them, etc.

I started off liking the book, but the emotional ground hogs day started to drain me. I wanted to read it quickly to get it over with, but found myself needing lots of breaks.
