Full disclosure. This fell just shy of a 5 star read for me. But this series is still a keeper. Absolutely highly recommend.

Again, individual stories are told but are masterfully woven together. I felt some of the characters were a bit more difficult for me to connect with than the previous two books, but overall the stories and how they connected was good as usual.

Wicked twist at the end that made me cry. And I was kind of mad. But life is life and it often plays out different than you want. This series definitely reminds us of that but also offers slivers of hope. So the ending made sense in that vein. Still mad though LOL

Another great time-traveling tale, this time set in the different context of Hakodate. It was fun to meet a new ensemble of characters, and Kawaguchi’s writing is simple and endearing as ever.
I did though, find this one slightly less compelling than the others - perhaps it was the new cast of characters, and lots of people to keep up with, or perhaps the premise of the cafe is becoming a bit predictable - and I was expecting more story development of the characters we came to know in the last two books?

Nonetheless, a great read and I look forward to the next!

4.3. Good book, all in all. Lots about grief and happiness. The entire series feels slightly repetitive because everyone travels to the past/future and people die and people want to die and people are unhappy. But I think it’s still a bittersweet story and I really enjoyed this entire series.
