Definitely I don’t like how Shantel Tessier writes her FMCs.
It upsets me every time.
I’ve tried with the Ritual. I gave a chance to the sacrifice thinking maybe with Tyson it could be interesting. But it is simply worst.

Weak, submissive, and also very naive, like they aren't capable to take care of themselves. Wiping, whining and sobbing all the time with an incapacity to stand up for themselves, that’s a big no for me.
TSTL. That’s it.

That’s a shame because I like the stories and the plots in this series but each time I want to throw and burn my KOBO / phone when the FMC go with the flow of what is inflicted to her and she even doesn’t think about revenge (sometimes when they just are a little angry, they just sulk. Great. Thanks.)
Damn girl, burn all the building and escape, he just SA you 😡

And obviously there is a pregnancy trope to finish me. I loath it especially in DARK romance.

I loved this book but it definitely wasn’t my favorite in the series but overall it was a great book with a lot of spice and the plot had me hooked to figure out what happened

Way better than the first book. The FMC was way more intriguing and the MMC was just better in all aspects.

Edit: Why the fuck is Tyson the best out of all these mfs. The bar is in HELL.

 ✨ 4 stars ✨
🌶️ 5 spice 🌶️

‘It took three years for Luke to make her what he wanted. I’ll do it in much less’

I DEVOURED this book. All 621 pages. In less than 24 hours. Was it pretty much literary porn? yea so what!

Okay but for real, the beginning of this was a bit iffy for my just because it was smut scene after smut scene (which I’m not complaining about) with little plot. But…like 300 pages in and then the plot just kept thickening. I think this might have been my favourite out of the L.O.R.D.S series.

Let me state now, this is not for everyone…just for the dark fucked up girlies who love their dark romance extra messed up.
I will say I usually prefer plot of spice in most instances but I feel like it wouldn’t be a Shantel Tessier book without it, ya know?

I actually really liked the relationship between Lake and Tyson. Towards the 400 page mark I felt everything really picked up relationship wise and plot wise.

But look, I won’t be writing a thesis on the book right now because it’s 12am…just know it’s spicy asf, darker than ever, and actually a really fast read (at least for me)

Check TWs and CWs, 18+ You have been warned.
Happy reading 🤍

I wasn't expecting much given it's dark romance and probably will have gratuitous smut and other usual dark forbidden acts. It did have 70% smut, 10% plot (that were kind of messy but it got me curious enough to finish the book), and 20% on other stuff (violent scenes I feel were not really that essential to the whole story, some romance here and there, etc.).

Still, for a dark romance it was entertaining and revenge x arranged marriage concepts are exciting to me (well, it was more of a forced marriage to be honest). But, readers have to really check the TW because some scenes (smutty ones, the violent acts, other triggering scenes) I ended up just scrolling through and I didn't feel they were compelling enough for me to stay and read word per word. The plot just felt ridiculous at times especially when the villains' plans unfolded. The motive for the revenge marriage wasn't that strong enough reason to make the get-back-at-you satisfying but it held a significant role to messing up the villains' plans.

Tyson, if you look past the dark and underground acts he did, has magnetism to him that made my reading bearable somewhat. Kind of a rebel actually in this sordid secret society universe - will not follow the rules. No reaction nor feelings for the FMC, Lake, but there was one chapter I felt bad for her feelings of being insignificant. She got more confident but I can't say this part was explored nor threshed out. Character development wasn't the focus of the book.

I can't say it's super bad nor good but I think this is the book I'd like the most out of the LORDS series.

So all three Lord books are the same. Justified rape, kidnapping, torture, forced pregnancies and shitty families.
