⭐️⭐️

There are probably those out there that would like to see me spit-roasted and smoked for this two star, but to hell I say! I understand that Le Carré’s ways with words and sentence structure are second to none when it comes to the complexity of the tale he is trying to tell. Yet, what we get is so dull compared to other spy and espionage novels that share the shelves with The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Nothing really happens except for conversations between characters, and you could say I’m being a whiny bitch, but we have other novels where this happens as well but with ACTUAL SHIT happening in the background that we can see and almost feel (take Dune for example, a lot of talking but oh so much substance!). I will not bash John Le Carré or his works any further, but in my defense, I think his work goes hand in hand with film. Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy is still one of if not the best spy movie I’ve ever seen. Simply because I could see it!!! Visualization in these stories and situations will always be the key for me.
