I loved this book so much, however I actually was expecting for all the murders to be connected in some kind of conspiracy, but that part is just personal, just like I think the last chapter should've been Jenn's suicide note, I was really curious to know what she wrote.
re read (2025) i would say I feel exactly the same ahaha but was a pleasure to revisit this story

First off, I listened to this as an audio book and the narrator was fantastic at portraying a teen girl's voice. However, it could not make up for the fact that the characters were flat and not the least dynamic. There was no depth to their characters as there was no description of the scenery, their thoughts, or feelings. There was some superficial description of what they looked like. I think this may have been because it was for the targeted audience of teens. For this reason, I think it works.
Plot line: Five years ago, 5 cheerleaders tragically died within a couple of months. The younger sister of one of the cheerleaders decides to investigate to see if there is more to the deaths. Who really killed the 2 cheerleaders who were brutally murdered on Homecoming Night? What caused the accident that took 2 other lives? And finally, was her sister's death really a suicide? Monica searches for the truth and tries to see if and how all the deaths are connected.

I just expected so much more from this book. Monica was so determined to figure out what happened to her sister, but ended up just focusing on what happened to Juliana and Susan. I mean, I get it if the evidence only led to them but I feel like she didn't even think about her sister or connect the dots to her for a really long while. I hadn't considered Ginny's dad playing part in much of this until Monica asked for a favor from the reporter, and I hadn't even considered him being involved in the car accident until the reporter got back to Monica on the favor -- then that all clicked into place. I suspected Brandon on and off until the end of the book so I had already settled on the fact that he killed the girls, so that wasn't a huge plot twist. I thought Carly would've played a bigger part, same with ethan, so I was a little disappointed there. A few times I thought Ginny herself might've killed the girls in a way, but then they didn't make sense. and when the whole thing started with Monica looking into everything, I thought maybe somebody had snuck into the house and killed Jen and made it look like she hung herself or somebody called her and made her do it. I figured ethan like called Jen and was like "yo if you don't do this, I will kill your family," but that didn't happen and it ended up just being a real suicide -- which was a little disappointing for the storyline. All in all, I just expected so much more. It was okay what it was though.
