Too weird of a premise for me, not enough romance!

I wanted to like this book but I really couldn’t. It was confusing, there was too much plot, the FMC wasn’t likeable, the relationship was dragginggggg, and the world makes no sense. DNF.

Either have it be Hades/Persephone OR Sleeping Beauty. Don’t half-ass two things when you could whole-ass one

What. Was. That? There are parts of this book that were so cool, but there was SO much going on and so much that didn’t add to the story. Too many characters. Too many sub-plots. Too much of the FMC noticing all the things for clues that lead to nothing. I listened to this, and if it wasn’t for the fact that I could speed it up and continue doing things, I would likely have DNF’d this book. The majority of this book is lived in “dreams”. It was kinda fun having the MMC be the damsel in distress, but overall… this was a boring read.

I like the concept and characters, but I lost interest towards the end of the book.

I enjoyed that this was set in modern times. Was a nice break from the normal fantasy. I will say it got a little repetitive with the dreaming and back and forth. On top of that the relationship did feel a little over the top. And made me dislike it in the end.

very much enjoyed tarian and calanthe’s dynamic. a bit predictable at times, but overall, a good read. i think it being a standalone makes the plot a bit weaker.
