I was utterly captivated by this enthralling retelling that blends Hades & Persephone with Sleeping Beauty. Zion Hadestine, a formidable mob boss with rumored divine attributes, and Calanthe Bloom, a young florist shouldering her family's burdens, become entwined in a tale that transcends the ordinary. Their unexpected connection, revealed through shared dreams, blurs the lines between the fantastical and the real. The story weaves a dark, twisty path through themes of power, love, and fate, offering a fresh and spicy take on timeless myths. This story masterfully combines suspense, romance, and a touch of the supernatural, making it an unforgettable journey. I eagerly await more explorations into this intriguing and beautifully crafted world.
3,5/5⭐️
Hot.

I'll be honest when I first started this book I was a little skeptical with the whole sleeping beauty/beauty and the beast vibes. However the more I read the more I didn't want to stop.
This book was very well written and I thoroughly enjoyed Calanthe and Tarian's journey.

Such a good read! I love a great standalone Olivia knocked it out of the park with this one!
This was originally published through Kindle Vella with different names for characters so I struggled with those changes because I invested my time reading those only for it to change but I powered through.
Personal problems aside, this book had me anxious and I don't know if it is a good anxious or not.
I found Calanthe to be combative and defensive one second but then the next she is completely amenable. Her life was tossed upside down so it only makes sense for her to react that way but I felt like it was a lot of whiplash.
This is a Hades/Persephone and Sleeping Beauty mashup with a gender swap on the Sleeping Beauty part making Tarian Hadez the damsel in distress.
Tarian (previously Zion Hadestine) is considered a god in their world, one who thought he couldn't be taken down only to be proved wrong. He ends up kidnapped and only Calanthe can help find him.
Calanthe, fresh off of meeting Tarian, has a new connections to him that allows her to meet up in dreams, which then makes her VIP #1 for his family and friends searching for him. Without her they can't find him and times ticking. Add those expectations in with her having to care for her mother with Alzheimer's and you have stress city! She also tries to play detective and kept throwing ideas out (my main anxiety source) and forges new friendships while letting her old one fall to the side.
Between the real world and dreams, we have a ton going on and sometimes it feels overwhelming trying to keep up with what feels like 2 different storylines. It all connects in the end but I still have some questions that need to be answered so I'm hoping for more in this series. I also wish there was more explanation on the Hadez family, the runes, and the powers that they all seem to have.
If you're reading you're probably wondering why I would give this 4 stars when it seems I have many complaints. Well it was intriguing and kept my attention all the way through. It really is such a fresh idea and I haven't read anything like it before, I just wish for some things to have not changed and wanted more growth between Calanthe and Tarian.
