This is a phenomenal book. It’s incredibly slow and requires a lot of focus to read, but the pay off is there. Highly recommend for anyone looking to read something thought provoking and emotionally challenging.

I feel like this book is a very humble little read. It's like an indie movie where nothing happens but in nothing happening everything happens, if you catch my drift. I would have given this book 5 stars if it wasn't for the lack of emotional ties I held to the story despite it being a solidly written one in itself. I found the unreliable narrator of the butler and his previous master of Lord Darlington to be very intriguing characters. I listened to this as an audiobook and so perhaps my immersion differs due to this but I would still highly recommend giving this book a read. Feels very contemporary and leaves one feeling slightly philosophical by the end.
