Ummm this was just really not for me. Very cringey writing and I didn’t connect or care about the characters and their relationship at all
It was giving Colleen Hoover

This story wasn’t it for me. The instant attraction (this wasn't love) was too disrupting. Especially the thoughts the male MC I can’t be bothered to remember his name kept having of the female MC the night he had to tell her her husband died!!!???!
I guess I am not a fan of the widow.er trope.

I enjoyed the audio book of this one and liked the premise of this story and the struggle to cope with grief.
When Poppy's husband dies her life changes and she struggles to rebuild her own life without him. The support she gets from her brother and his wife slowly allow her to put her life back together and she sets herself a challenge which brings her into meeting Cole, who has a link to her past.
Cole was a wonderful character - a gentleman who knows what to do and when to do it and did not want to push Poppy at all. He made it clear things were to be taken at her speed and he supported her to do what she wanted to do without any reservation.
I also like the suspense element in this storyline and Poppy's emotional journey and growth in her character made for an addictive read.
It's steamy, absorbing and a really good read.

I was surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did! Not because I thought it would be bad, but it was just a really sweet read that tugged at my heartstrings!
Devney didn't implore many tropes to tell Cole and Poppy's story which I found really refreshing. Cole simply pursued Poppy in a very sweet, intentional and organic way. They're the kind of couple that is really easy to root for because they're very even and well-matched personalities.
It was a really simple book and an easy read, not ground-breaking in any way but it would make a great palette cleanser if you're struggling to find something to read!
