I liked it. As always, I laughed lots, cried a few times, and had fun on the ride.

But a lot of the characters I like seeing in action were mostly not present for the action. Very little of Jeff, Chuckie and Christopher (what was so great about the last book was seeing them plus Kitty right at the head of all the action again, just like in the early books). And not as much fun with Richard, which made me sad, because we didn't get him in the last book at all.

And there were some bits that I just didn't understand. Mostly:
Spoilerwhy didn't they just shoot Cliff in the head? I'm asking this seriously. Yes, yes, they want to know about his plans and where his factories are and etc... but at the end of the day, you just cannot afford to let this guy unspool his plans as he wants to. They were caught flat-footed in a shit position here, and it was ENTIRELY because they just let Cliff carry on for like 2 years after knowing his identity. And then when the disease started up - and Cliff wasn't even being subtle about it, since he was the only one who stayed in that Cabinet meeting that WASN'T infected and dead as the disease was confirmed - they just let him go on. And like, shake everyone's hand, continue to spread the disease, etc. Like, fucking kill that guy already! In this series, we've definitely had no problem killing other characters that could have given us info. Even in this book, they're all "oh no, don't kill Annette, she has info we need" but then they DO kill her, and good because fuck that psycho bitch.

Basically, while our team is generally sharp and on-point, I feel like they handled Cliff poorly. Further, I feel like Cliff went from being Ye Olde Supergenius to like ... the smug douche who is being obvious about infecting everyone and gloating. Like, he was that close to the win, and he just suddenly became dumb?

Oh, and I feel like this book underscored Kitty's badass DNA, that I have been theorizing about (and I think wrote about in the last review).
SpoilerWhen Amy got no powers, despite Christopher having the same Surcenthumain boost Jeff did, it pretty much confirms that there is actually something quite unique about Kitty.

Lastly...
Spoilerman, I cried my eyes out over Kitty's 'uncles' ... it was so devastating.

Loved it, even tough I had some serious memory issues regarding Kitty's code names for the happenings of the first eleven books and - as always - the ending came much to soon and pretty much still right in the middle of the action. Can't wait for book 13!

500 pages of non-stop action. These people will never have a quiet day. But to be fair, they have had many quiet days since her second baby has been born. Quiet for a time then.

*Other aliens are coming to visit. Hey, what a state visit!
*The bad guys are still out there. And the mastermind, even if they know who he is but can't do anything about it. I really hate that guy.
*Let's see, other bad things going in. Someone is trying to kill everyone. But who is it?
* And a mystery virus that kills really fast. The clock is ticking on that one.

But I must say, the constant need to tell me what she is listening too. After 12 books I fear I am rather tired of that. I can live without that.

I also felt that there was not enough Martini. I know that she is a big girl and can handle herself, but sniff, I love Jeff. I want more Jeff and Kitty action (and I am not talking about the bed here.)

I have seriously started to doubt they will ever be happy on this planet. There are so many crazy peeps trying to kill them. That evil church. Hybrids. Sorry earth, maybe they should just leave and find a nice beach somewhere. But there are more books so hopefully they can find all the crazy ones and live happily ever after.

This book does pack a few punches 0_0

Kitty, Martini and Co. are back for more non-stop action and I could not have asked for more.

I absolutely love this world Gini Koch has created, 12 books in and I hope we get many more. Yes, there is a lot of plot under the bridge and I do recommend you read these books in order, but Gini does a great job keeping us returning readers in the scoop and reminding us of previous operations A.K.A. novels.

There is a bit story for everyone, alien races visiting, action, romance, intrigue, mystery... This series makes my heart beat faster and is always one of the best parts of the year.

The mastermind' end goal is in sight and there is a lot of development in the overall plot. I for one cannot wait for more!

If I had one complaint it would be that I wish we got ore Martini... but I can't really complain, Gini akes me fall in love with these characters again and again with each book.

If you enjoy a great sci-fi romp, this is the series for you... I totally recommend it!

Wow! This was a non-stop adventure from start to finish. And the teaser for the next book indicates that the adrenaline rush isn't going to slow down! Fantastic return to the main story line after two books that took important side trips. Wow, this was great.

Code Name: First Lady

Powerful and emotional, but not without lightness at times - you'll cry and laugh and feel more than you're prepared to when you read Alien in Chief. This is the most intense book in the series up to this point (which is saying something), and a prescient one. It also gives me hope. So dive into Alien and Chief, but make sure to have your tissues ready.

Oh, yeah, what a wonderful, amazing book! Absolutely loved reading it! Though like Alien in the Family, there are some losses! But so great to read!

FINALLLY. Things are coming together! Although it’s always so hard when characters die it’s also hugely unrealistic that the good guys only lose a handful of people. War is not pretty, nice, neat, or sensitive to those you love. This book had elements that played right into the timeline of this year and it was so wild reading it and being like “that’s literally happening right now lol”

I love that we got to see more Adriana and that there won’t be anymore pussyfooting with Cliff. Similar to Kitty I would rather not deal with all the politics and just get to the good stuff but there must always be a balance
