I think this was a really quick, enjoyable read and I enjoyed what I read. My issue is I felt like it didn’t cover anything new or particularly deep. The Adam Sandler chapter was new and was entertaining, I just wish it would’ve got a bit deeper. I actually didn’t realize he was in that many movies… I’ve seen a few (some I was forced to watch in school) but aside from click and hotel Transalvania I didn’t enjoy any. I just didn’t find his films funny. Superbad is just super bad to me, stepbrothers isn’t funny to me, most American comedies just don’t land with me. It was nice to see that talked about, but I felt like the rest had been discussed before. But it was still a fun read and I’m interested to see what Lindy West does in the future

Sharp writing and biting sarcasm. I listened to this one, and West’s reading is really good. I laughed a lot, but the humor is dark.

I don't agree with everything Lindy West writes, but she always makes me think and reexamine my feminism which is appreciated and necessary. Thanks Lindy!

This book was such a hopeful but also disheartening read. It's very of its time (2019) and you can tell.

There are so many sections that still ring true and serve as a reminder that most of us want change and it's an ongoing process. But there are also pieces that show some things have in fact gotten worse. I cried and ranted in anger after the abortion chapter, knowing that all our worst fears are happening.

It's a hard read but filled with Lindy's signature snark and sarcasm. It's definitely inspiring and comforting if you want a reminder that rage is warrented sometimes.

I started this, liked it so much that I didn't want to finish it too quickly, let my loan lapse and then couldn't get it back til this month and then finally finished it in one day lol

I really loved this collection of essays. Some made me laugh out loud and some made me sad but most of all they made me think a lot about the world and our country and everything in between. I particularly loved the mentions of Seattle and the author's ties to here really helped me enjoy it more and made it more personal.

The reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because some of this made me really depressed about the state of things lmao
