I could not put this book down. Gilpin's story-telling makes you feel like you are right there next to her and it's addicting. My only complaint is that I wish she spent a little more time on her life outside of the school once she graduated. How did she cope, did she maintain a relationship with her parents and siblings in to her adult life, etc. Otherwise, an incredibly phenomenal read. Strongly recommend.

I feel like this is a unique reading experience in that I think this book was pretty well-written, but it isn’t one that I’d recommend to most people because of how depressing and screwed up what she went through was. It was so unpleasant to listen to that I highly doubt I would ever pick this up again. However, in the event one feels absolutely compelled to pick this up, I’d recommend the audiobook, as it is narrated by the author and you can hear in her voice how much the events of the book continue to affect her.
