This book was really cute. It did a great job of reflecting the intricacies and intensities of having anxiety, and also some trauma and trust-issues from past relationships. It did a good job of weighing and validating those heavy topics, while also being a light-hearted love story.

I really enjoyed this book. I should have read Part of Your World first to understand the dynamic between Alexis and Briana, but it also reads as a standalone. That being said my only complaint with the story was I personally don't like the "miscommunicated feelings/the other person is in love with their ex still" I do like fake dating because it's almost like strangers to lovers.

First half of the book was lovely, sweet and funny. Jacob is so endearing. But second half of the story gets mired in a never ending spiral of miscommunication. I wanted to just shake and/or punch Bri. OMG just freaking talk to each other! And then once they did everything was good in like 1 page! I was so irritated by it that i couldn’t even sleep!

This book had me in my honey nut feelios. It was so funny at times and such a heart warming way of showing love in the small moments, in showing up for one another and making what the other one finds hard easier.

Definitely adding Jacob to my small list of book boyfriends. He’s perfection! This was such a slow burn; I’m talking like 300 pages in, but it was worth it. I do wish there had been more spice, because… Jacob! This book is also very funny and the humor is driven by the MFC, Briana. I laughed out loud frequently. Definitely putting some of her revenge hacks in my back pocket. Go be harmless to each other.

Aaahhhhhhhh das war wirklich so gut!! Es gehört auf jeden Fall zu meinen Favoriten, auch wenn‘s keine perfekten 5 Sterne gibt.

Jacob ist der neue Arzt in der Notfallaufnahme, wo auch Briana arbeitet und an seinem ersten Tag hat er so viel Pech, dass alle glauben, irgendwas würde nicht mit ihm stimmen. Briana hatte es allgemein nicht leicht: sie lässt sich gerade von ihrem Ehemann scheiden, der sie nach 12 Jahren Ehe mit einer Freundin betrogen hat und ihr kleiner Bruder braucht eine neue Niere. Noch dazu kommt jetzt, dass Briana wohl wegen Jacob doch keine Beförderung bekommt, woraufhin sie und alle Pflegekräfte ihn hassen. Doch dann erhält Briana einen Brief von Jacob und es stellt sich heraus, dass ihn alle missverstanden haben und er ist eigentlich der liebste Mensch auf Erden, der wegen seiner sozialen Angststörung sich nicht gut ausdrücken kann. So fangen die beiden an, sich gegenseitig Briefe zu schreiben und sich auf einander einzulassen.

Also, erstmal 2 Sacheb, die ich nicht mochte:

die erste intime Szene zwischen den beiden…. nein, so hätte es wirklich nicht sein dürfen und sollen?!!!?
Mitten in einer Panikattacke MIT SEINER GANZEN FAMILIE EINE TÜR WEITER UND AUF EINEM FUTON???
dieser Missverständnis, der eigentlich der Haupt-Plot war… leider. Teilweise konnte ich verstehen, warum Briana so denken würde, aber sie hat es viel zu weit damit getrieben. Also ab einem bestimmten Punkt war wirklich klar, dass die Sache nicht so ernst ist. Einfach WIE OFT sie darüber nachgedacht hat (was wir ja wussten, dass es NICHT SO IST), ich war in meinem Leben noch nie so abgefuckt. Aber das lag auch daran, dass ich das Buch sonst AUS GANZEM HERZEN SO SEHR GELIEBT HABE.

Ich kann gar nicht alles aufzählen, was ich geliebt habe. Einfach alles andere. Mein Herz ist immer wieder für Jacob gebrochen und die Art, wie die beiden aufeinander Rücksicht genommen haben 🥹! Ihre Verbindung haben sie als „to be harmless to each other“ bezeichnet und ganz ehrlich, das ist alles, was man nur wollen kann. Das allerbeste war aber, wie Briana Jacob mit seiner social anxiety unterstützt hat und ihm immer einen Ausweg bei sozialen Situationen gegeben hat. Sowas schönes habe ich noch nie in diesem Kontext gelesen, das war wirklich so gut gemacht. Uuund natürlich fantastischer Schreibstil, ich werde auf jeden Fall noch mehr Bücher von Abby Jimenez lesen.
