Cross Academy has a Day Class for normal students and the Night Class for vampire children. Yuki and Zero are Guardians protecting students unaware of the vampire threat from the glamorous students of the exclusive Night class that they admire so much.

I thought that this manga was confusing, lacked a decent story and was not well written. I love vampires but I thought this was one of the biggest letdowns I've read in years. It was boring and uninteresting.

It’s such a boring train wreck, truly. The dialogue is so dull and predictable, the characters are so flat and the male characters all look so similar it’s hard to remember who is who. With this being said, I read THE ENTIRE SERIES, so obviously there must be something redeemable in there somewhere. The plot has a good premise, but I just wish the mangaka executes the idea better. It was less vampire academy (which is great) and more twilight (ew).

I am curious enough to continue… can we have a love triangle and moral dilemmas and just wholeheartedly believe in someone’s goodness??? Yes. :) plus, comic relief - why is the headmaster so cold?

I found this first volume of Vampire Knight to be fairly confusing. The dialogue jumps around a lot and it is hard to follow the graphics. The characters are also pretty one dimensional and I felt like the only character with any depth was Zero. I really enjoyed the premise of this manga though so I believe I will continue with volume 2 in hopes that the series improves.

- This was a great first volume to the series. The characters are very compelling, and I'm very intrigued by the story.

- The text varies sizes a lot. It is kinda weird.

- I wish this was in color. The illustrations are beautiful, and I want to see the character's eye color and hair color. The eyes are so big and awesome.

- Do we really need to be reminded that the night class is for vampires every chapter/book? It is getting old.
